Criminal Origins, Dreamfall, Oblivion (pay attention to the Guild quests) Gun... mostly because the old west games are scarce in the video game industry, it could be goldmine of almost limitless potential, as far as action and strong cinema style story presentation.

Let's add Star Control 2 to the thread. The converstaions you could have with the different races were hilarious.

I thought you meant best written stories (articles) about gaming. I was going to post Chad Concelmo's Memory Card .20: The Message in The Glass, which talks about the execution of Bioshock's story.

In terms of a well written story, I'd have to go with Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble. Yeah, it's got a sketchy name, but I believe it won the video game category of the writer's guild's awards. They were at least nominated, I'm sure of that. The writing was good.

Give up while you can. We won;t win this fight.

But on to the topic. I read this and thought "Best book WITHIN a game." So that is the question I'm going to answer.

This belongs to a Hand to Hand skill bok in Oblivion called "Ahzirr Traajijazeri". It demonstrates the belief system of the Khajiit race. A truly fascinating people they are. Here, have a look!: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Ahzirr_Traajijazeri

The story is what makes me love a game. Thus said, Every Tales I've loved(Except ToS2. All others I've loved), loved OoT, Psychonauts, and a bunch of other games I don't even remember.

What the hell does that mean?

This isn't some noble crusade against ignorance. I'm just asking people to use the search bar. It's not that hard.

o.o noble crusade? I was making a reference to the fact that no one uses the search bar and, despite constant reminders, no one listens. It was a joke, man, relax.

Yeah. It's so hard to get to the new posts. Even though logically, the new posts will be at the end of the thread.

But that's not even a valid complaint. Old comments are no less important than new ones.

The best story ever written in a game is in my opinion definitely BRAID.
First I just thought that the story would be kind of a Super Mario rip-off (with the princess always in the next castle to keep the story going). But in one of the later levels I realized what the princess and the pursuit of her actually metaphorically stands for. And I must say, it is probably the most intelligent stories ever written.
