Left 4 Dead would be a good choice if you want a multiplayer zombie game. To be honest I thought this game was just OK (I only played the demo), but I'm sure many would disagree with me.

If you want a classic, single-player zombie game with a more contemporary feel get the Resident Evil remake for the GameCube (it will also play on Wii). The game is scary as hell; I've gotten several fun and horrifying hours from it. In my opinion the story is unique and the graphics, which easily surpass those of many Wii titles, are pretty for a 2001 GameCube title. Although many gamers complain about the controls, I feel that the game is solid enough to overlook them; you more or less get used to them as you play. And by this point I'm sure you could find it in the USED bin at any GameStop or GameCrazy for around $10 - $15, which is totally worth it. This game is a survival-horror/adventure game, though, so if you're interested in unremitting action and tons of fast zombies I wouldn't go with this one... get Left 4 Dead instead. You'll often find yourself conserving ammo, probing for items, and solving puzzles, but it's a rewarding experience in the end.

Resident Evil 4 is another great choice. Classic RE but with much more action and a different combat style that you may like if you aren't too fond of the fixed camera perspective of the original.

If you want something for the 360 I would get Dead Space. It's one of the scariest games I've ever played. The combat system is akin to that of Resident Evil 4, only much scarier. The monsters aren't exactly zombies but they're close.

Left 4 Dead is probably a good'n because it's new. I Played it with a friend, loved it. Resident evil is if you prefer more serious horrorand solitide gameplay puzzles.

Left 4 dead is a team game, so with friends it's just good ol' shootie fun.

Left 4 Dead is a pretty good game, as well as Dead Rising just because you can use just about anything and kill zombies with it. If you want a really indepth zombie game then go for Resident Evil. Basically what everyone else has been saying.

Left 4 Dead is my favorite zombie game, though Dead Rising is great due to the sheer variety of ways you can kill the undead. To hell with the time limit; I spend so much time just mucking about on a zombie-slaying rampage that I've never actually beaten that game.

If I can include mods to the list, Zombie Panic is highly enjoyable, particularly if you have a team that works together.

You know what RE4 could have used? One, just one blood stained flesh craving undead Zombie. Not crazy Spanish peasants that may or may not have had worms spout out of their heads on getting shot.

Oh we are missing so much. While I do first have to suggest L4D and DeadRising first, as they are more "true" Zombie games that revolve around the concept, there are also plenty of other zombie-like games that evoke the feel of a zombie apocolypse.

Timesplitters: Future Perfect (Making maps full of nothing but zombie monkeys and then playing with a friend is a blast.)

Resident Evil series (duh)

Half Life 2 (though zombies are not the MAIN enemies, they are some of the creepiest zombies I've seen)

Dead Space (Not traditional zombies, but if a zombie is a dead guy brought back to life, they fit the bill)

BlackShades (has a zombie mode)

COD5 (Nazi Zombies. Need I say more?)

Warcraft 3 (playing as undead feels so empowering, like I'm controlling my own zombie army)

I would say the RE series as these were the first game that scared me, but I do find L4D a good game for laugh with mates.

seeing how almost everyone here recommended l4d i see no point in including it here.

i would say deadrisning

if you have a wii try waiting for the new house of the dead.

but if your really patient try waiting for resident evil 5. not real zombies but zombie like.

Cod 5 Zombie Mode?

No Nazi is safe from Chicago Ted.

If you're really, REALLY looking for a challenge, check out Zombie Panic. It's a mod for Half Life 2.
