I absolutely HATE Bethesda engine, especially Fallouts and Oblivions. The characters seem so stiff, and all of them look the same. Since everything is all in a complete connected world, characters that aren't supposed to die, do die, things that are supposed to be in one place are in another. I HATE BETHESDA's ENGINE!!!!! Sweet god, I hope Elder Scrolls 5 is:

A. LESS BUG RIDDEN

and

B. A DIFFERENT ENGINE. I think it would be insaintly cool if TES 5 was on the unreal engine or something.
Are they still using NetImerse 5 or whatever?
Yup.
Well, that's your problem right there.

I see why Bethesda games would be trippy on the PC. I played Oblivion on the 360 and it had some issues. The framerate got choppy whenever I was roaming the countryside. I started a mission to talk with somebody selling a house, only to find the guy selling it dead outside a castle. It also froze my 360 a few times, but I don't know if that was the 360 or the game.

Like some previous posters have said, any time an engine has to process as many possibilites and as much data as there is in a Bethesda game like Fallout 3 or Oblivion your going to (unfortunately) get some bugs and some glitches and people need to understand that. Bethesda could dedicate a year to each game they're about to release JUST to fix all the bugs in that game and they probably still couldn't find them all, the games are just to vast and complex. Here's how I view the situation: Bethesda games will give you endless and endless hours of gameplay and fun at the occasional albeit very frustrating expense of a couple bugs, glitches, ect. It seems like a good trade off to me but I'm not saying you have to conform to my opinion.

He is right about the writing, Especially in comparison to the previous games in the series (and I'm including Tactics in this), 3 has the weakest and most nonsensical writing.
I totally agree although I never played tactics. I thought tactics was just a sqaud based fallout combat game, devoid of storyline. Oh, well, my loss.
That's pretty much exactly what it is (though it does obviously have a storyline), and yet the writing is still far better than Fallout 3's.

Morrowind has never been a problem, but surely morrowind cant be using the same engine as Fallout 3 or Oblivion?
Sure it is. Randomly, my Morrowwind which I'm playing will decide to crash when I open the map. It gets really old, honestly, but it's a fun game otherwise.
But theres such a huge difference in graphics.
There are always the graphical upgrade packs and sourceports. MGE includes HDR and LOD into the engine among other things.
look at neverwinter night and the witcher same engine just a graphical update.

But Bethesda don't make great games they give the tools to make a great game and that is reason get GOTY as while I've been blessed with a more stable version of MW, oblivion and fo3 they still not perfect and I have modified them beyond recondition and still only slightly buggy but fact probably spent a full year on their all their games combined is a testament how well their setting as scale of their games at least.
