Bethesda Shows Off Skyrim's Dark Elves

Cue fans either bitching about or blindly praising Bethesda for this image. I can't really decide whether I like the character model or not till I see it animated, but I won't be playing as a Dunmer regardless (Argonians FTW!).

So you're predicting that fans would either like or dislike the image? What other option could you expect?

Personally, I see this as a good sign since with features like those, we're bound to have more customization options than Oblivion gave us. Also, I'm digging the apparent return to the Morrowind aesthetic.

I've always played Dark Elves throughout the series. I'm loving the new look, and this makes me want to pre-order Skyrim even sooner.

Also did anyone else notice that there's what appears to be the top half of a mushroom cloud in the distance.

Unless you're referring to the moon, that appears to be sky lights similar to the Aurora Borealis, which is epic.

... I have to admit, I have a Dunmer fetish, but I'm not sure if he does it for me. Love it as a whole, but I hope I meet some more handsome Dunmer in Skyrim. He looks awesome, however. He's too old for me to classify him into the "do want" category.

I'm really excited to see them, though. My username is Dunmeri, so I'm obviously extremely partial to our eastern elf friends.

I have managed to kill every elf in both Morrowind (it was very empty) and then oblivion.

Skyrim, might be even more fun, as I can watch their stupid elf faces look angry, as I kill them...

I'm still curious about the Argonians. What's up with them? Did they get removed from the game? I mean, I can kind of see why (they're reptiles, meaning they are cold-blooded, and cold-blooded things do survive in arctic conditions), but COME ON! They're my favorite race!

I don't really care that much about the dunmer because I never play as one. Kajiit and Argonian for life. Though I do think this guy looks a bit goofy, with the exception of his armor and weapon, which is badass.

Well... fair point. I forgot about the Chinese Officer's swords.

It was an attempt at referencing a fear amongst Fallout fans when it was announced that Bethesda were doing Fallout 3 that Fallout 3 would be "Oblivion with guns." This fear was exacerbated when Fallout 3 was released and it turned out that it was, in fact, Oblivion with guns. Kinda.

So, it was a (lame) joke, but to be honest I am genuinely curious to see if any of the things they started doing in Fallout 3 will carry over to Skyrim. I kinda hope they don't because I think there's too much that's too similar between both games now, but on the other hand I'd like it if the dialogue was a bit more in depth.

In Skyrim, the nukes are DRAGONS.

And the ghouls are ACTUAL GHOULS.

And the caps are GOLD.

And the Wood Elves are STILL ANNOYING.
