ZeniMax is the parent company of Bethesda Softworks, noted for their Elder Scrolls and Fallout rpg game series.

Their newest division is ZeniMax Online Studios, to be led by Matt Firor of Mythic Entertainment. Stated in their websites FAQ is an intresting claim about their current project: "We're just not ready to say anything specifically about the title that we are developing except to say that it is a massive AAA quality MMOG title that we think will challenge the current market leaders."

Does anyone see Elder Scrolls 5: the murmorperger(spelling?) being talked about here? Good news? Worst news you've heard all week? What do you think?

It could be good. I'll wait and see.

Personally, I'd settle for plain old multiplayer ES, where you could construct your own servers and such.. sort of a Neverwinter Nights type thing.

A KOTOR MMO is kinda ick since the game was based around roleplay. The ES series is more hacknslash.

The two are not really comparable. But hey, who knows, a KOTOR MMO might actually be good.

Hasn't everyone said that ever since WoW edged out EQ and Lineage.

I think an Elder Scrolls MMORPG would be cool,if they did it right and took the time to make it big and interesting and Cyrodill should be.

Cyrodiil? Oh no. You're not setting your sights high enough. All of Tamriel (even if it does come an expansion at a time) could be represented.

Three things I'd need to see before I'd seriously consider taking the plunge:
1) Make it solo-friendly. I'm a night owl in the US Pacific time zone. Hard to find good groups when everyone on the East Coast is asleep and everyone in Europe's at work.

2) Balance, balance, BALANCE. I would hate to see the game force me to play a certain way, especially if the "solo-friendly" aspect is to be retained. My Wood Elf marksman in Oblivion's as cool as he is because sneaking works well and I can use a Chameleon spell (or change into my 100% Chameleon Cheater Suit with my advanced character) to make myself scarce if I have to.

3) A community that's not full of total dipsticks. This might be asking too much.

I'm looking forward to it, and I'm going to try it out. I just hope it turns out well and that it's actually some fun.
