Well i have to say i love being single because i have had a girlfriend before but it's like the old Will Smith and Jazzy Jeff song says girls ain't nothing but trouble her brother beat me up because he thought i was no good for his sister so what do you guys think have you even been in a relationship you never wanted too be in but stayed just too make her happy or do you just like the enjoyment of being single?

There's plus sides to both, really. What matters most is that both are happy in the relationship - it takes two to tango, and all that jazz. I've never stayed with anyone just for their sake, that would just be odd. It'd feel like I was mothering them or something. o_o

I'm pretty happy being single at the moment, but that's largely because my best option is in another state. As for the other girls...I love 'em, just not in that way. I don't feel much of a compulsive need to get a new squeeze. I'm pretty happy managing my own crap first before I drag someone else into my chaos.

You're talking in absolutes there, and only Sith do that. And Jedi, criticising the Sith, I guess. And also me...nevermind

If you're in a relationship with Wiley Pete, a supervillain made of fire whose things is simultaneously eating people and fucking them to death in their eye socket[footnote]That comic didn't start out nearly that dark.[/footnote], it'd probably be better to be single.

If you are single because you are Dave Lister and you come out of stasis to find it's 3 million years in the future and everyone you've ever known is long dead[footnote]The novelisation of him finding about this was pretty dark, but in the show it seems not unlike many discussion in the R&P forum[/footnote], that's probably not a good thing.

While being single is more or less a constant, I guess, it'd depend on the relationship.

For the first 4 years of my single life its safe to say I hated it. Im twenty three and I had my heart smashed a year ago. having gotten past that Im actually quite pleased by being single.

If it's a good relationship nothing really compares. Being single is fun, but there is a certain joy that comes from being in a close relationship. Apparently the OP hasn't had that sort of experience, keep trying buddy!

Single . Sure companionship is nice , but you can replace that with friends and an active social life . Relationships ( for me ) is good to assure sex ( sincei got no friends nor social life ).

I was happy being single, I'm now happy in a relationship.

If the latter was false, I would be single.
If the former was false, I'd probably still be single, but also miserable.

No, actually. I very much wanted to be with her and held off out of respect for her personal life until it seemed like we were ready. Turns out, it didn't happen that way. She had a crisis and I confessed like a piece of literature, getting her mind off of things long enough to help her through it. I have remained devoted ever since.

In the fourth year of a relationship at the moment and it's ace, wouldn't trade it for anything. Having someone around who really knows you and enjoys all your weird little gaffes is great.

I'd be shit at being single.

It depends how much time and effort the relationship requires. There's no way that I could dedicate enough time for a relationship right now and still get my degree & continue my career, so I've not been looking for them. Plus girls are expensive :p

By the Nine, he has returned from Oblivion! Don't worry, Daystar's been covering for you.

OT:
It kind of depends on personal situations and lifestyles. For me personally, I'm happier being in a relationship than I was being single. It's good to know that no matter where I go I'll always have someone stopping me from doing something completely stupid

I'm much happier in my relationship than I was single, but I'd rather be single than in a bad relationship.

It's nice having someone you can be completely retarded with.

Single. In a relationship there's no telling when the other half will find someone better and leave. By this point, you've become dependant on that person for support, and them leaving cripples you.

It could happen at the worst possible times, in an important period in your academic/work career, at a time of year that would be happy otherwise and then becomes ruined, maybe even just when things have already been going bad. The rug can be pulled out at any time, and that other person may not care at all for how that makes you feel.

I can't risk that, especially not while at uni.

I love being in a relationship, haven't been single in quite a while.

I just think being in a relationship is more fun than being single (for me, may not be for everyone).
Obviously there are ups and downs in relationships but mostly it's all good.
Plus my boyfriend makes me toast.
And that's just great.

Pretty much this. Although bad relationships aren't necessarily worse than a bad single life, depends a lot on how bad things get. First two I definitely agree though.

Is this specially made toast, or were you bitten by a toaster as a child and are afraid to use them yourself or soemthing?
