Now, in case anyone isn't familiar with Deviantart. It's an artist community site for people to post their art, crafts, photography and to socialize with each other through comments, letters, and on the forums. (Don't EVER actually set foot in the forums it's the GREATEST hot bed of trolls you can imagine)

Every day for the past week I've been checking out the daily most viewed art here on Deviantart. I've noticed a trend...


"I've been working on my art since I was old enough to draw and I spent a week on this oil painting. It's the greatest thing I've ever made. Wow it got 1000 views today!"

"Well I've got boobs and I took a picture of them in my bathroom mirror this morning. I've got 6000 views today!! ;D"


I don't care that these pictures exist. But with porn, literally, only two or three clicks away why are these pictures so popular on here? It's a fantastic insult to people whose art actually takes time and skill to create.

On a side note, I don't think of myself as an artist. I just make simple geeky crafts >_< I have great envy and respect for real artists... I would duel one to the death if I could take their quickening and steal their art skills....

I actually agree with you. Granted, I'm no artist and haven't had a ton of exposure to this world, but from what I've seen, if anyone submits anything involving nudity it's suddenly worth three times the comments and adoration than if there had been no boobs.

(Yes, that sentence is a jumbled mess. I'm tired and I'm not going to fix it.)

Sadly, this is the plight of the artist. You work and work and work to create, but no amount of work will guarantee that the product will be more appreciated than breasts.

Come to think of it, im trying to think of a single piece of art I like more than titties. And nothing springs to mind.

Pretty much this. And dA will only ban nudes if it's a guy (because EW PENIS) and or if there is a vagina that is open. Even then, they tend to be really slow on it.

What sucks is that all these bathroom mirror nudes get mixed with the actual artistic nudes that people put a lot of time, money, and effort into exposing the beauty of the human form.

Yeah I agree, there is such thing as 'artistic nudes' but they're pretty hard to find on DA, I do love the site though, what's the link to your page? (if you don't mind sharing )

This is why I don't look at most viewed. I look at *checks her deviantart* Newest. Just because it is popular or most viewed doesn't mean its good. I have some friends who have a few very artistic type nudes on their profiles. Those I have no problem with. But the people who do shite like what you described piss me off. I'm more a photographer than an artist though even at that I'm not as good as some people(also, me saying friends means people I actually communicate with OFF the site)but I'm alright for what I have to work with. I rarely look at Daily Deviations for that reason as well...

If some female in your life (My wife to me) gave you the choice of going to an art show that some shlub had poured his every essence into or stay home and look at her boobies, it would be boobies every time.
