They were the coolest things. Discuss.

But seriously, did anybody else used to have these? They felt like the ultimate spinning wrecking machines when they clashed together. And the TV show wasn't half bad either.

Aaah. I used to take them apart and make the best one possible.
Many hours were spent trying to win matches.

Fun times...

Loved the first season fot that show, but it went downhill hardcore. As to the top fights, would have been much cooler if the launchers weren't so easy to break, I stripped the gears in them after about 3 hard launches, so bad they wouldn't even spin.

They only really sold crappy unofficial imitations of beyblades where I live. Really cheap but not really the same thing.

I used to LOVE! Beyblades. I used to have like 7 or 8, and one of those little battle domes, and every morning I would make my mom, or sister play a game with me, so I could test my custom built beyblades.

I think I still have 2 or 3 beyblades in a box, somewhere in my room.

They were fun and I had one which no one could beat (it would knock the other bay-blade out in one hit) the only thing wrong with them was the fact it took no skill just luck but there are things out like bay blades but you have a magnet which you but on your finger meaning you can make it move as you want so it takes actual skill (to a certain degree).

I remember these...I also recall the cartoon being utterly insane but fantastically watchable.

My friend "Customised" one of his beyblades by melting several razor blades into it......It became a VERY dangerous "Toy"

OT: I had one but it wasn't very good and my friends stopped using them before I could get any decent ones.

Ah yes!
I Knocked a bully out with them once when I tried to re-enact the anime. I pulled it too hard when we were going against him and it flew out and hit him in the face. The dickhead deserved it acording to the teachers...

aaah yes!! I just remade my room (which involved looking places I had not looked in MANY years!) and I did find some of my old beyblades. I had really forgotten about those things, but they were fucking AWESOME! I remember I got so happy when I went to the store and bought this one beyblade, it was like... the coolest beyblades of all! It was the one Ray Kon had (he was my fav. in the series :3) I believe the beyblade was called Driger ^^.
As with any other "trend competition" I would be better than my friends at it. I've always been the master of beyblades/dracoheads/pokemon/whatever!
The anime wasnt all that bad either ;)

Ah, the fun with "accidentally" knocking out others with an innocent toy.. Yep!

And yes, I had a few beyblades back in middle school before everyone at my school lost interest after Grade 9. The originals were the best, the newer generation of stuff now is just suck and gimmick.

Edit: Also, I had two of those larger weight disks that you could purchase from a dollar store to make the beyblade a beast. Good for defensive types.

Wasn't like a cartoon about super powered spinning tops?

=\

Then again Yu Gi Oh is a cartoon about children's card games.

If anyone ever wonders why animé doesnt have main stream acceptance stuff like this is their answer.

I had quite a few in my day, it always seemed very arbitruary and random to me which ones won matches no matter how I mixed and matched. It does give me a good bit of nostalgia though.

I totally forgot how awesome the theme song was. Also, seeing the thread about Yu-Gi-Oh was actually the inspiration for this thread. My train of thought was, 'Yu-Gi-Oh? Man, you know what was better than that BS? Beybaldes.'
