That's right my fellow Escapists, Beiber fans are somehow more insane then we thought. After Esperanza Spalding, born in my home state of Oregon, won Best New Artist is seems the Beibtards couldn't take seeing their god taken down a peg. As fast as there 13 year old legs could take them they attacked Spalding's Wikipedia page posting things such as "JUSTIN BIEBER DESERVED IT GO DIE IN A HOLE. WHO THE HECK ARE YOU ANYWAY?" and "She now has the 2011 Grammy for being the Best new Artist! Even though no one has ever heard of her! Yay!"

Within hours the damage was fixed but seems yet another stain is on the shirt of the Beibtards. So what do you, my fellow Escapists, think?

This is why talentless vaccuums should be barred from ever getting on the media. Seriously, he started out as a nameless YouTuber with some shitty videos then, I dunno, something about a PR guy finding his videos and going "OMG" before hideously inflating the brat's poularity so much that he's just another obnoxious conforming sell-out "artist".

That's not very surprising. If one thing is more numerous than his rampant haters it's his rampant fans, and they're still the more annoying ones.
Case in point.

I personally think Mumford and Sons should have won.

She won best new artist, yes. But I must ask, why was Beiber even considered for that award? He performed in 2009 at a televised New Years Eve party (Bringing in 2010). That was a year ago, making him a year-old artist, making him ineligible for this award, by my standards at least.

One hundred and ten percent agreed. They are absolutely amazing.

Wait, aren't Grammy winners are voted by popular votes ?

I am glad the whole Bieber fever hasn't got into french Canada ( as far as I know ) so I am not really aware how bad it is in the USA. How far this thing can go ? What would happen if that boy would enter a room full of his fans and couldn't get out ?

I am REALLY NOT into pop ( closest I got is 60s pop like the Turtles or Cream or British Pop like Gnarles Barkley ) so my opinion toward his "music" is biased.

Is he really admired for his music ?

Damn straight they should have won. Little Lion Man alone outclasses everything any of the other new artists have done (except maybe Florence and the Machine. They're all right, but eh.)

Still who is surprised by this? These tweens have already proven that their mindless devotion has corrupted their brains so much that they can't take any criticism of their false idol. These are "people" who wish death on celebrities just for mentioning his name wrong. They sent Kim Kardashian death threats, not because she is a vapid waste of space who should never have been allowed on TV, but because she thought Bieber was cute. These are the ones who cheered when Lily Allen had a miscarriage, because she commented that she didn't know who Justin Bieber was. These people are poisoned and I can't wait for the antidote to come in about two years time when puberty does to their Lord and Savior what it did to Aaron Carter. I plan on celebrating that day, with some of the good things that my homeland has produced: beer and poutine.

Holy cheese macaroni on a tricycle...

It's like the early beatles fanbase ( the " I wanna hold your hand" period ) gone really bad...

I am scared now...

I'm listening to some of her music right now. Some of it's a bit dull, but some of it (Grooves) is really good. She's very talented, and she doesn't deserve this stupid-ass reaction.

Was that "OMG" pun intended?

(The "PR guy" was Usher, who recently released an album titled OMG upon which is the "Hit single" also titled OMG.)

This just in "More pointless crap involving Justin Bieber".

I have never, ever heard anything about him that wasn't about him, or his fans, being stupid pre-pubescent wankers. He seems to be famous only because everyone hates that he's famous. How the fuck does that work?

Wait, a Wikipedia page won Best New Artist?

I came here expecting to hear about how an artist was attacked by another artist's fandom, not about a web page being altered.

LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAME.

I don't see the big deal, Beiber is just another one of those teen heart throbs that come and go. We've seen things like Hanson, The Jonas Brothers, and tons of others. He won't impress me as being anything special unless he somehow manages to hold on past being a teenager.

Truthfully I have a lot more respect for performers like Brittany Spears, and Christina Aguilera (sorry, probably misspelled both names) because while they get a ton of crap, going all the way back to when they were up and coming teenagers, they have managed to hold on big time. People keep badmouthing Britt, but when she does another album or single it sells like crazy. Yes it your quintesential pop music, but she does what she sets out to make well.

Time will tell if The Beeb does anywhere near as well, or manages to actually hold onto his fan base.

I can't compare him to The Beatles or that whole period of mania, because I don't think he writes his own stuff. He's not John or Paul, and while all of them were good performers, what made them more than a boy band was the writing. The Beeb seems like he's going to be dependant on making sure he has money to hire good songwriters, and also has good taste (or good advisors) in deciding which ones to actually perform. A lot also depends on his level of actual voice training, and what he sounds like when he ages.
