We're getting there, our facebook and myspace conversations are being monitored by the government.Raptoricus said:http://www.i-am-bored.com/bored_link.cfm?link_id=39128
Well the Obama legislation is trying to push forward new laws that will give the government right's to search your HDD on any device with one, for no reason and with no evidence for them to need to. What strikes me is that this may be being pushed by the media companies wanting to crack down on pirated movies and games, still is this a breach in privacy? Or should we all be safe in the knowledge that we've got nothing to hide?
Just hope to hell that this doesn't work it's way to the UK...
Really, what he said. Because of the Patriot Act, the government can pretty much fuck with you for nor real reason.CoziestPigeon said:Privacy + Patriot act (that you fuckers actually voted for) = No privacy.Internet Kraken said:Won't happen. It's a breach of privacy.
I feel sorry for the poor bastard who has to sort through the 99% (well prob 100% because i don`t think serious crims are dumb enough to discuss their plans through a social networking site)of the inane shit people put upInarticulate_Underachiever said:We're getting there, our facebook and myspace conversations are being monitored by the government.Raptoricus said:http://www.i-am-bored.com/bored_link.cfm?link_id=39128

It's not that simple. People have tried to put devices like this into motion before and it never happens. Not only does it have huge opposition it would also be incredibly hard to develop a program that can effectively monitor peoples hard drives.CoziestPigeon said:Privacy + Patriot act (that you fuckers actually voted for) = No privacy.Internet Kraken said:Won't happen. Don't worry. They'll be too busy chasing me because I'm *just about* to go out and assassinate the US administration. With terrorists. And mexican drug lords. While killing baby seals. And watching porn. Listening to stolen music. Pretty standard Friday night actually.Biek said:A dutch teenager got arrested after talking about going on a killing spree on an american website. Wouldn't it be easier to crash somethign else into Newfoundland? Like pie?Khell_Sennet said:Hooray for being Canadian. We don't allow this kind of shit, and if they did it anyways, we would be unable to be charged because of the illegal manner in which evidence was gathered...
Which means my plans to build a machine to crash the moon into Newfoundland can proceed unhindered. Mwuahahahaha.
Exactly.ButtonedDownParadox said:And by the Obama legislation you mean one senator out of California?
Relax people. This isn't happening.
Jesus. I was wondering if anybody in this thread was going to be level-headed.Internet Kraken said:It's not that simple. Yes, yes it does.Biek said:It would strike terror in the hearts of every 4chan lurker.Tenmar said:The problem isn't searching the hard drive online. The problem is that being able to search your hard drive will be easier for the government as a natural part when you are in trouble with the law. So all that....you know what on the hard drive will be added on top of the orignial conviction. How would you like to go door to door in your neighbor hood letting everyone know you are a "sex offender" just because you got a speeding ticket and didn't report to court?
Also how about having to pay for pirated programs all over a assault charge?
