Have they found One Piece yet?
No, but they're extremely close. It'seems already ended in ODA'so head, so no filler arcs. Unlike Barstow and Bleach.
Actually ODA has specifically stated that he knows how it will end but he doesn't know how long he'll take to get there. That's sort of how stories like that pan out. And so long as he can think of crazy adventures, he will always push one piece further and further back.

And yeah it's current arc but it is a long fucking arc. We're talking dressrossa length.

The difference between One Piece and Bleach is that Oda is still enjoying himself.

Sorry, but the farthest I've gotten in the anime is the end of the Thriller Bark arc so I can't exactly weigh in very much on recent stuff. Although, while we're on the subject of One Piece, I recently saw someone suggest that one way to think of it is as a long running table top RPG where the GM tends to let the players get away with all kinds of crazy BS.
Someone from the Thriller Bark arc is fairly important to the Big Mom arc, so pay attention to those side characters.

Thing is though, Gear 4 takes a lot out of him. He had to use it twice against Donflamingo.
These special forms always use a lot energy don't they.

I went to look it up in action and what I found was the most DBZ punch ever. lol
Donflamingo doesn't look the least bit intimidating either, what a shame. I'll give him a pass if does something really evil in the show ^^

Honestly, it doesn't seem different. What I was hoping for is for them to outsmart these super strong enemy's, and I don't mean just once in an entire arc, like most of the way. DBZ has them throw around super moves for awhile, seeing both sides constantly get hammered, and then maybe once in a full moon we'd see them pull off a clever maneuver, and I hate waiting for that one moment.

I don't want to start watching One Piece again (a really really long show) to find that I'm just waiting for that one clever bit of writing again. I stopped watching most of these never ending shonen because they all eventually do this.

Hope I don't sound like an ass but it is a real concern.

I still like that video though, it does make want to give it another chance, but I'd rather just skip to the examples of the villains being monsters, then straight to them getting their ass kicked and save heaps of time. What do you think?
Im just going to spoiler tag this if you are going to pick it up again, but just skipping to that really does a disservice to the build up here.

Also don't knock Don Quixote Do Flamingo, he's a fairly nuanced villain. It also doesn't help that you didn't see his proper introduction to the story and skipped to him getting his teeth kicked in.

During that fight Do Flamingo is suffering from internal bleeding due to a coordinated sneak attack done b by Luffy and Law, reducing his fighting ability. Luffy is fighting a handicapped Do Flamingo, while he is at full power and still only manages to barely win due to the help he receives from others

I think One Piece does technically do power scaling, but in a different way.
The ENEMIES constantly scale up in power, but the main characters (generally) stay the same.
Once the team reaches the new world, this starts becoming more apparent. Luffy's battles start becoming more difficult and less possible to win through strength.
Then they get to Saboady Archipelago where the show really demonstrates how ridiculously powerful the top of the list is; Luffy encounters several enemies that he is completely incapable of defeating in any way until the time-skip/training arc.
It's still questionable whether he can beat some of those enemies post time-skip.

Luffy really hasn't gotten any stronger since the end of the time-skip, Doflamingo is the only one that required him to go all out. Everyone else has been a push-over.

I suspect that things will even out once they really start fighting the emperors.
I'm not going to deny that it's still shonen, but after a certain point, it's been a lot better on the whole power-scaling thing.
Plus unlike DBZ, it doesn't come out of nowhere. We've known the emperors were ridiculously strong for like 400 episodes, and its established that the strongest people are farther through the grand line.

The shows pacing also avoids the feel that enemies are step-laddering in strength.

You would really enjoy Hunter X Hunter and Jojos bizarre adventure

I don't want to spoil it but Donflamingo is a irredeemable bastard. And that's putting it lightly.
That's one thing I love about the shonen genre, they usually know how to make them likable while you also want to see them get there comeuppance. Well unless the hero's are lame, which does happen sometimes.

The "outsmartyness" of one piece has been showing up more so in their set up of the conflicts. How they got to the point of King Kong Luffy and Puppeteer Doflimingo fighting across the skies is pretty great, if an extremely long process. It got nothing on Jojo's Bizarre Adventure though, if you've never watched that series, I strongly recommend it, at least stardust crusaders and beyond.

As for skipping set up and getting to the meat of the show's battles and characters, I give the recommendation I always give. Read the manga, and watch the arcs/battles/moments that interest you. I've been current on One Piece for almost 10 years or something, and I know damn well that this series is too long to just jump into from Episode 1. You could read the manga from the last point you remember, and be caught up in a couple weeks, (we're talking over 850 total chapters now) while watching the show would take actual months of non-stop absorption. And the show has some issues wasting time with all the times they linger on shots or just pad time.

All that being said though, the music in the emotional or intense moments is usually really good, and really makes some of the scenes that much better. I've gone "wow, that's sad" in the manga to actually crying watching the show cause the music is yanking on my heart.
I remember they sometimes have the "outsmartyness" during the fights too, but it takes awhile to get too sometimes (or usually) and these days since I'm so busy I'd rather just skip to it. I'll consider your manga plan though. And I guess I'll have to Jojo's BA soon since it's been recommended to me 5 times now.

To a non-one piece reader/watcher that video is just going to seem lame, if not downright silly. The entire threat of that character comes from world knowledge and years of hyping.
That's not true, I got sick of One Piece early on and I find the clip charming, disturbing and I love the music, making me very curious to see whats going on with those folk. It's easily the best opening I've ever seen to one of their villains, and you just never know when the best of the series will be.

I agree with your criticisms though.

Yeah I know it might screw the full potential of the build, but you get where I'm coming from right? It's a super long anime that feels really slow or filler-ish a lot of the time, going the predictable path that most shonen do, and I've grown up and just am not quite into it as much as I used to be. With the little free time I have I'd rather just have 'good stuff', Mmmmmmm.

Fairly nuanced or not, the first clip I see him in makes him look really generic, so they never should have put him in that position. You could be 100% right and I might love the guy if I saw everything, but that still wouldn't change his appearance and dialogue there.

And while I appreciate the info, it's not how strong he is that makes me care at all, cause like I said before, any idiot can write a over-powered fighter. I want to know if he has interesting powers or a personality, or if a unique set of events led to these moments, and just if the general execution is something worth mentioning (like OP's video). This is the real art to me.

I fucking love Hunter X Hunter. You probably mean the new anime though, but I'm sure it's the pacing and unique events you're talking about.

And again Jojo has been mentioned. Do recommend eng dubs or subs? I know to some that might seem like heresy but I prefer to watch it in English when it's worth it.

You should check out the new series, pretty good imo. As for dub vs sub I personally think the dub is good if a bit hit or miss
