Music, It inspires us, it gives us a new outlook on life, it was the drums of war to the concert halls to the mush pits of today, But lately a disturbing trait has come to my attention that we tend to worship music as if it was the savior of man kind , But i ask why? Is music such a compelling medium that we are mesmerized by its delightful glow or that we are such materialist pigs of only consuming that we know nothing other then what we have been taught to do? I know a few songs that just play great things into my heart example
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKRTi584pJE
Brings me with great inspiration just from the beat and the strong voices of the choir

Now before you go and call me a communist this song is vastly different to the original but it still has a message to say with a great beat
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBD9h0jUq3w

Now compare that to the millions of songs that are vomited to the consuming public..now i understand that people have their tastes and all that but i still have an issue with the overall passive aggressive propaganda that has been spewed at the kids and teens of my time, At my job it was the most prominent, One of my co workers asked me ?what is your favoured band? i replied i had non, as i said that he gave me a strange look as if i was not normal or i had something on my face that just appeared after i finished talking.

People say they love music, they love their IPOD with 100 songs they love to hear their celebrity(also know the person they are allowed to listen to in order to fit in) Yes their celebrity witch for most of the western world will be the same 50 or so people.

Its true, if you tell a man he's a fish long enough he will start thinking he's a fish, a man with self-awareness will know that listening to music is just a distraction rather then an obsession he must worship in order to obtain friends or start dialogs.

Music popularity is nothing but advertising, if a rich man tells his staff to make every radio station play a song they will and you will love it, hard work or artistic skill has nothing to do with the successes of music its rather the popularity it can attract, its not a coincidence that M&M became famous after a rich singer helped him out, singers become big because of their money not there music talents or artistic skill

The whole music industry is just a joke that we should ignore, We the people should not stand for the propaganda we are forced to live day to day, You wake up get dressed to the sound of the new music band from the TV, you drive to work hearing the same 10 songs over and over, You work for the next 8 hours listening to the same songs again, you know what? You enjoy it i know you do, you love the music and that's all fine and good up until you find out that these music companies make billions from brain washing people like you, from the day you where teens trying to fit in and the key word was the name of the band, Music is not a trait given to a few and only a few music can be done by anyone any time, Being a music writer is not like being a doctor any person can create music, it is disgusting to see the western world hypnotized with this foolishness and even more so seeing music makers earn millions not that they are very good but because they had connections to the top.

I'm all elitist, all elitist and cool.
I am the more eliter and cooler of us both meaning you are the less than ALL elite and cool.

OP: Suck it up, stop your bitching and realise that the masses love shit. This has continually panned out over history.

Bitching about music is faaaaar more annoying than any music in itself.

How about we all just listen to what we like and let everyone else do the same? Live and let live.

I think there are several other factors involving music. Listening to he same music means people can socialise about it, talk to people about it and recognise a beat and dance with others to that particular beat. Although if that was the case, it would be a subconscious thing as many would say they like the music

I agree it is also people hypnotised, I remember one day where I woke up and put the radio on and what was playing? Katy Perry - fireworks and I didn't mind having it in the back ground so I left it on. 2 hours later and I was driving and I turned on the radio, guess what came on... You guessed right,Katy Perry - Fireworks. I changed it because I had already heard it today but I wasn't too annoyed because it might just be a coincidence. When I had finished driving and got to the shopping centre I walked to GAME and what song came on the speakers? Fucking Fireworks by Katy Perry. Fine that's it, drove home and because it was a friend of mines birthday I was going to a club with them, one of the first songs I heard was Fireworks.

This isn't listening to music, it's getting people to learn by repetition and very similar to what they do to people with short term memory loss. If you do an action enough times you stop thinking about it and just turn off, which wouldn't surprise me because if you are conscious about decisions you will think about the positives and negatives which is actually bad business. I'm not saying it's a conspiracy but it really wouldn't surprise me if they force various artists into the top places

So listening to the words of evil dictators or the voices in your head is in your opinion is alright? Cool, let me know how that goes

Seriously though just saying 'modern music suxs' isn't going to help anyone, inform people and show them there is an alternative to the same stuff you hear on pop radios every day

50% of the mainstream music industry thrives on people hating it as much as it does on people loving it.

A) You know almost nothing about me, don't be so arrogant.
B) Just because something makes money does not make it necessarily worse or evil e.g Bill Gates.
C) If we ignored the music industry completely then we would miss out on damn near everything. Just because something isn't mainstream doesn't mean it's not part of the music industry.
D) Who gives a fuck? Do peoples' music tastes matter so much that you think less of them over it?

A) You right i dont know you
B) Bill gates helps kids in Africa and farmers to help grow more food yet hes a very rich man
C)If you ignored the music giants then you would be enjoying better music rather then the same Hip hop or Baby baby song over and over, In country's where people dont buy songs people usually sing for there friends, I say this is much better then looking at pop celebrity's and going OMG they are so good i could never be this good if i tried
D)I dont think of those people as lesser then me its just that this culture of needing to worship a band in order to start conversations is just silly, Why is it that almost all the females i speak to somehow start talking about music and then males talk about music or video games.

Well, one day we'll come to the realisation that pretty much all of the annoying, crappy pop music we've had to put up with for the last 20 years was written or produced or both by one guy [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Martin_production_discography]
