When I was only 8 years old a movie came out called Small Soldiers. It easily became my favorite movie at the time. For those who don't know it was a movie about these toys who had military AI chips installed inside of them. Those chips aloud them to think, learn move adapt, almost like humans. There was two factions the soldiers and the Gorgonites. Simply, the Commando Elite(the soldiers) were programmed to win and Gorgonites were programmed to lose.

Recently I was given to watch the movie the movie again at this age. Being older, more mature and hopefully smarter I was able to watch the movie in a new light. Since watching several episodes of MovieBob and Extra Credits I developed an analytical view to most things, and with that I was able to pull out several themes out of this movie. In point form they were:

-Even the smartest men make mistakes: the toy engineer putting the chips in the toys.

-Even the people we deem the most incapable are capable of doing great things: the protagonist of the movie saving the Gorganites

(Most importantly) Even if your programmed to lose (meant to lose) it doesn't mean you can't win: proven by the Gorgonites

There were also many other themes represented in this movie and to be honest after seeing this I have grown a whole new appreciation for the movie and I was glad I was able to watch it again with this new knowledge. What I want to know: what you guys think of what I have explained and has there been similar situation with you guys?

We all look back on things with a new prespective than we did when we were young. when your young you don't think movies have deeper themes never mind knowing what they are. and even little references go over your head like when I watched the Jungle Book, for the first time in years, I relised that the four vultures we're based on the Beatles, when I was ten I didn't know who the Beatles were.
