As is my custom whenever there is anything about Bigfoot on TV I'm watching a show on the History Channel and as a person who lives in the Pacific Northwest I love this topic. I personally believe that Bigfoot exists considering that the stories have been around since long before Europeans ever got to America. I'm also certain that an animal can live mostly undetected, (the Bili Ape wasn't scientifically documented until 2006) due to the large amount of wilderness that still exists in these areas, especially in the Pacific Northwest.

So what do you think about the Bigfoot question and why?

I see so many shows doing that. They always get SO close and catch terrible quality footage of it, but never any clear proof. If bigfoot is standing in front of me breaking my spine, then I will admit he's real.

I'm sure a Bigfoot existed at one point, but I'm not too sure if one exists today. If one does exist, I hope I never encounter it.

Myth. Science says no.

Life span is simply too long, would have to be population. Population would have to be significantly large to avoid problems of a closed genetic pool, a large enough population would be easy to find.

Also, no evidence has ever stood up to scrutiny.

I think Futurama said it best...

Professor "Bring me a sample of his droppings or shut up!"
Park Ranger "I have the droppings of somebody that saw Bigfoot."
Professor "Shut up!"

Well considering the man who filmed the original footage of Bigfoot came out a few years ago and admitted it was fake...yeah, its fake.

Oh, I exist. I just don't go wandering around in the woods naked. All of those photos and videos really are hoaxes.
Okay, okay, I'm actually just a really hairy man who lives in the Pacific Northwest.

But yeah, probably a myth. A species with a population of sustainable size would be seen fairly often, considering how many hunters/campers/spelunkers/survivalist nutjobs/et cetera we have around here. Even if there ever were any, and if there are any left, the species would be on its way to extinction. There's just no way that a sustainable population of them exists.

No, Bigfoot is not real. Although, anything is possible so if it turns out Bigfoot is actually real, I won't be surprised by it.

Boulder-crap! Bring me a bag of bigfoot's droppings or shut up! (a cookie for the proper response to that)

OT: Bigfoot, would be nice if it ends up being real. Would give us something really awesome to study and exploit...for science!

I don't think that it is only one animal, it does have to have a sizable population, and it can remain undetected considering as I said in the OP, the Bili Ape, which is a human sized ape found in the Congo, went undetected for a long time, only being found by scientists in 2006. Bigfoot (or Sasquatch), could very well be in a similar situation, if you know the area around where the majority of Bigfoot sightings are in the pacific NW you would know that these areas are very heavily wooded and could easily hold animals we know about but have never been able fully document.

No one has managed to discredit the Patterson film.

I don't think he exists. Unlike other species that have flow under the radar, big foot has had people searching for him for decades and nothing comes up. There would be some trace of a large humanoid species living in the wilderness if we were specifically searching for it. Even if it does exist it doesn't matter much it will be a footnote in a another biology book and another creature on the endangered species list.
