First and last COD game.
First? Please dear god say you're joking. Play CoD 2 and 4. They are the pinnacle of the series.

Fable III and BlOps. It's worse than MW2!

Halo: Reach
I really enjoyed the silly plot of the first three 'Halo' games. Didn't expect much for Reach, then it turns out to be a complete failure in the dramatics department. It's the most boring invasion I've ever seen in a game/movie.

Red Dead Redemption
It's a complete mess in terms of pacing (Rockstar's main problem)

Tron: Legacy (saw the press showing in December)
So much potential wasted by a bullshit script

Black Ops, just...seemed like MW2 palette swapped...and MW2 was just so boring because I'd seen it all in CoD4...

The whole gaming year. I've only played three games from 2010, completed two of them and I'm about halfway through a game of Fallout: New Vegas, but most of the other games didn't interest me, and those that did typically turned out to be disappointments in their own right.
I feel you. I too have bought less games than any previous year in this generation. There just haven't been that many releases that really drew my attention. I don't know, maybe my standards and expectations have become unreasonably high.

Oddly enough, my PSP provided me with the most entertainment this year.

Enslaved.

Looked like it was going to rock...

But the story was all the game had going for it. Combat was shit, climbing was shit.

And the ending was shit, meaning the story became shit.

Fuck you, Ninja Theory. Fuck you.

I now have ZERO faith in you to make Devil May Cry not suck.

I don't see what everyone's problem with Black Ops is to be honest, sure, the campaign was...forgettable but the other features were still fun and enjoyable. I expected an alright campaign, fast paced multiplayer and mindless zombie killing, this was pretty much what I was given.

My biggest disappointment of the year had to be Fable III. I tried playing at a friend's house and I tried my best to get into it but by about the hour mark I found myself struggling to think of a reason why I wanted to continue playing (not quite as badly as when I played FEAR but still pretty bad), we quickly agreed on playing something else (I forget what exactly).

Mafia 2, I waited years for that game and then I completed the story in about 4-5 hours. MY actual game time clocked up to 10 hours only because I started dicking around when I realised the story was going to be short as hell.

Final Fantasy 13

Let it be known that I was already massively dissapointed in 12 (being the first in the series I stopped playing during other playthroughs). I was one of the defenders of the "linearity," but the battles wore me down to the point of pure hatred. "I'm sick of hearing about your stupid pansy preteen mama's boy sulking and stealing precious screentime from every other good character. I don't want to deal with your insufferable ATB/Turn Based battle system in which my characters that I not only can control, but can't dodge ****.

It was the first FF game I ever quit halfway through. How I managed 30 of those godforsaken 60 hours of "playtime" is beyond me. I watched four more hours of cutscenes on Youtube and got more enjoyment. A terrible point against the whole "game" aspect. JRPGs (which I dub "Anime Fantasy Adventures", because the term RPG is reflective of ANY videogame) are not heavy on gameplay to begin with. However, KH and Star Ocean proved real time fight mechanics work, while FF10 and Persona still prove Turn Based can be fun. Why is it Square developers have to stick with that moldy piece of crap known as ATB? Pick one side of the spectrum, rather than stay in the middle where you manage to suck at both.

At least I didn't actually BUY the damn game. Whoever spent $60 on FF13: The Spirits Within the Advent Children Before Crisis of the L'Cie and the Mama's Boy deserve to beat their heads against the wall.

Starcraft 2.

The story was an insanely padded pile of complete ass, full of terrible writing, and everything about the new Battle.net beyond the matchmaking system is by far worse than what we had in god damn 2002.
Same as that as well as the game is hardly different, actually I say it's worse. They have abilities only experts would use because they couldn't think of ways of making the races equal, what a crock. Campaign is alright though if I ignore the story and cinematics.

I actually (thoroughly) enjoyed both GTA 4 and MW2, so I may of over-anticipated both Black Ops and Red Dead Redemption.
While I still had a good time with Red Dead Redemption, I was expecting something phenomenal, so I was a little disappointed with it.
Black Ops, however, was just a whole big load of "meh."
I really regret buying it.

Well, I'm gonna go ahead and make my first post here and express my amazement no-one has mentioned Bioshock 2 yet, released early on.

Killing the freedom, making it strictly one directionally linear, pussyifiying and overpowering the big-Daddy at the same time, having the player play backseat to a little girl then DIE at the end anyway...Crap story with no twists, unlike the amazingly well written original, illogical timeline, retarded ideas (Harvesting slugs for Adam was cool...Despite the journals clearly stating that Adam requires a medium outside of the slug), atheism crammed so hard up the wazoo it offended even me and I'M an aethiest myself.

Infinite will be better though:
Bioshock: Infinite Ward AND 2k games.
Bioshock 2: ONLY 2K games
Infinite: ONLY Infinite ward.
I'm honestly hoping that for the threequel they'll have gotten rid of the dead weight of 2k games, who have never made a good game without some form of collaboration. Otherwise all you get is another Ballads of Gay Tony, or Bioshock 2.

I so badly agree. So from now on in 2011 onwards, I vow not to randomly download a demo of a game I've never heard of that gets me hyped up and makes me wish I'd never placed an order for it on eBay.....
