Biggest Disappointment

I was hoping someone would bring up dirty ol' Duke. Let me ask you this, though: just what exactly WERE you expecting from DNF? Were you expecting a non-stop thrill ride that would make you laugh in the face of anyone who even mentions Call of Duty?

No. I was expecting (hoping) for Duke 3D with shinier graphics.... which it failed at. Some aspects were okay but I thought it was shit. In reality, I was expecting it to be shit so I wasn't surprised.

Duke decided to hop onto the 2 gun limit, lose his boot, lose the balanced environment, gain a terrible driving portion, gain some epilepsy-inducing night vision, have terrible shooting mechanics, have terrible animations, and to top it off his humour is no longer funny. That wasn't what any one had hoped for.

WoW: Cataclysm. Deathwing didn't break Azeroth. Blizzard did.

Oh, indeed... Although it taught me a lesson, it did. What you think you want might not always be what's best for you.

For me, the lesson that's been learned from Cataclysm (and SWTOR) is that whilst I often thought I wanted solo friendly MMOs it can be a truly horrible thing if the devs actually deliver that. I'm missing the challenge of soloing quests intended for groups. Thankfully there's still the 5 man dungeons - at least there I'll get some decent fights.

(Oh, for a return to the Burning Crusade, when Ghostlands would cheerfully give a level 9 a quest to kill a level 21 Elite, and then kill another one...)

You could still at the very least pick up wow and know how to play it...

Fair point. It says something about how bad the NGE must have been that it still provokes very strong opinions so many years later. Yeah, I still know how to play WoW - problem is the world now seems designed to challenge only people that don't know how to play it.

Cataclysm was a let down. I feel like this whole expansion was just a lul til the next one. I'm sad there's not 10 levels. They could have crammed 10 levels into the zones for cata, forced us to go through the zones in a more complete fashion. Removed flying from the game completely and released something great.
