Can be anyone from anything. Book. Film. Game. Whatever.

For me it is tied between Snow from Final Fantasy 13 and Tygria from the new Thundercats (maybe he was a douche in the old but I have never seen it)

I'll go with Qilby from Wakfu. Basically, He is the most MASSIVE DOUCHE EVER.
For some reason you can also sympathize with him, which makes me a great character.
Qilby retains his former memories from his various incarnations. He is an explorer - He wants to explore nature, physics, and push the boundaries of science. But his whole race is holding him back. While he grew tired of living in the same planet for several Millenniums, he concocted a scheme allowing him to leave his planet and explore the STARS.
He provoked a foreign alien race to invade his planet, thus causing the inhabitants to flee. He then suggested they flee on a space ship that would require a tremendous amount of energy to take off (One which he couldn't get otherwise). That way he let all of the other adults of the race die while defending their children as he flew away in his ship, exploring other worlds.

Sauron from Lord of The Rings. What a dick.

Edit: There's also Shishio from Rurouni Kenshin, who wanted to take over Japan mainly because he couldn't accept the fact that he was a douche.

Unsurprising to anyone who has read the book my username refers to - Netta Longden from Hangover Square. Easily the most horrific ***** I've ever come across in any form of fiction - I haven't read the book in years, but I'm still struck by urges to plunge a knife into her ovaries.

Dante is a pretty big douche :D

Vergil is much more awesome.
Yeah, Dante is a smug prick. Especially in 4.
I know many game protagonists smarm one-liners to themselves, but for some reason Dante gets on my nerves specially.

Haven't you seen the episode Native Son, I used to think he was a douche but that episode bring a whole new perspective to what he is a douche to Lion-O.

OT- To me that would be Joffrey Baratheon from Game of Throne for obvious reasons, Nena Trinity from Gundam 00 and Spanda from One Piece.

I do not care if he has a good reason the fact of the matter is he is a duche and I cannot watch the show any more because he pisses me off so much. I do not care if you have abandonment issues or daddy issues stop be a whiny ***** and help your brother you prick!

But if you can look past his then good for you. The rest of the show is good.

Dragon Quest 8 has a character called Prince Charmles. No need to say, he does honor his name...

While I'm not trying to convince you otherwise but you can at least know of his origin story and to why he's such a douche (well we know he think he make a better king but it was sort of more than that). This way you can still berate him despite knowing his background.
In this episode we learn that Tygra hail from the Tiger clan who are exiled because their ancestor were still loyal to Mumm-Ra after his defeat. While this clan had prosper in such cold condition (the clan were living inside a snowy mountain), a plague had fallen on the clan.
Tygra father was King Java and while he wanted to asked the Lion for their help, his council disagree since they are too prideful to ask for help from them and instead seek help from dark magic.
The dark magic reveal the dark ones who had cured the clan of the plague however in return the King must sacriface his only son Tygra because they know one day he will grow up to vanquish evils.
The king was left alone to do it however at the last moment he cannot bring himself to killed his beloved son so he insert place him a small ballon and set it free.
The ballon landed in Thundera which just so happen Claudus and his wife were trying to have a baby but fail so Tygra arrival was like their pray were answer from the gods.
Tygra had a happy childhood as his adoptice mother nurture him with her love (she called him her little Prince) that is until some time later they told him he going to have a brother in which she stop calling him her little Prince. While she did gave birth to Lion-O she died in the process.
So overall Tygra lost the right to suceed his adoptive father and the only person who loved him (the King was kind of cold/ emotionless to him in his childhood).

Joffrey from GoT
Just a douche for the sake of it, because he can be. Plus he's kinda snivelling and all-round useless.

Well written to be thoroughly detestable.

Sherlock Holmes is pretty douchy. Conan Doyle made it a point in his books to show that the only reason Sherlock even survives in the world is because he's right most of the time.
