So I don't often play PC games since all I have is a laptop, but when I do I've gotten more glitches in games then when playing on the 360 or PS2. Most of these are graphical and are easily fixed or just go away quickly, and they are never game breaking.

So I had KotOR for the Xbox since it came out, and the disk finally stopped working. I downloaded the game from Steam and played it on my laptop, and things ran smoothly. Until Dantooine. After leaving the Jedi Enclave, the sky was filled with lines, everything rubberbanded, and I couldn't do a damn thing. It literally stopped me playing a game I just bought.

So, what are some game breaking glitches you have encountered, and what did you do with them? Also, if anyone has an idea on how to deal with my problem, could you let me know?

There was a major game breaking glitch on Fable 2. I forgot exactly what it was, but it prevented you from continuing the game. I was so angry I gave up on the game.

I could of replayed up to the point (not like the game is difficult) but I didn't really want to, and could of also run the risk that I'd encounter it again.

They finally patched it, and I was able to complete the game.

What would happen? Would you get stuck somehwere, or would a certain scene just not load.

It has been a long while so my memory of it is spotty. But, it wasn't that a scene wouldn't load or freezing or anything like that. It involved something where I had to enter an area but it wouldn't let me cause I did some stuff out of sequence or something.

Sorry, vague description. I just tried to look it up as apparently the game has a lot of glitches but I couldn't find the one I encountered. Thankfully it was patched so it is now a non issue.

Before it was patched, there is an instance not very far in Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines, whereby you had to take a boat to a mission. The boat never appeared.

Needless to say, it broke the game, and there were a lot of bugs in that game.

Thankfully, fan patches have fixed it, and it sits on my shelf as one of the best games I've ever played.

Oddly enough, I had trouble with Dantooine in KOTOR 2. The entire area between the starport and the Enclave seemed to cause horrendous lag for some reason.

KotOR 2, the telos polar bug that put your NPC companions into the developer debug mode. They would offer the option to view various endings but all the NPCs were despawned and you couldn't continue.

It happened to random games but once affected following the pure-lightside path through the conversation would ALWAYS result in the glitch. Annoying to say the least.

Back when PS3 was my main console you couldn't cure vampirism on the GOTY edition of Oblivion. God I hated not being able to go out in the day. There was supposedly a fix if you changed the game language to German, but no luck for me.

The PC version of Alice: Madness Returns. Both glitches prevent you from going any further. There is the Umbrella Bug and the fact that you can't attack in the giant form in Queenland bug. Though both can be fixed by installing Motion Joy and a Xbox 360 Controller Emulator then plugging in a PS3 Controller and playing it via that.

It doesn't make or break the game I'm just trying to figure out how that were able to play the game and fix bugs without getting past the PC Umbrella Glitch and the Giant Bug.

Sometimes in my steam version of GTA IV if I buy food Niko will spin in place with no way to stop him. I just reload the game and continue on but it's still incredibly frustrating.

Empire, Napoleon and Shogun 2 Total War memory leaks.

They are technically not glitches but with certain PC hardware set ups the memory leaks occur.

The short and short of it is that Data is loaded onto the RAM, used but then isn't removed. This means that eventually you'll run out of RAM... and CTD...

That is game breaking...

--------------

Oh yeah, there were apparently game breaking glitches in Fallout: NV... though I guess the OC has serious advantages there of avoiding them (the game breakers at least) :)

Ninja Gaiden 2 glitch where the door to the next area doesn't open, but it was fixed.

Wild Arms 2, they allow access to an area at one point where you don't have a certain character required to get out. And it's a one way road, so you have to hack the game... which I did, managed to get out, but a random battle crashes the game. Thankfully, after saving, and reloading without the hack, it was working fine.

Fable 3 tree of doom. A ledge you can jump off if you jump off it while looking for chests lodges you inside a tree. If this happens you are stuck inside a tree for all eternity.

biggest one was fable three because I played through it with a friend through his story most of the way so it was obvious I had put a lot of time into the character only for the game to glitch in reavers mansion at the end of the fight against the balverines. What happened was that I had killed everyone there and I even went and tried everything on the bodies but no matter what i tried I could do nothing but play around in the circular room. But most of the game ruining glitches are mainly AI caused either they get stuck somewhere or simply wont do something like when I played on hunted: the demons forge right near the start when the guy needed to pust the cart he just stood there and did nothing which would have been great but by the time they had fixed it I had already sold the game.
