Biggest Game Disappointments

Battlefield 3, Diablo 3, Red alert 3, Starcraft 2, Crysis 2, Supreme Commander 2, The demise of Call of Duty (Somewhat inclusive of and including everything after MW2), Halo Reach, and all the others that I've lost the will to play.

The last couple of years or so have been very, very disappointing.

Are you kidding? The past year was one of the best years in gaming since I started playing in the mid-80's!

No he's right. Most of these are poorly designed with terrible dialogue. I don't understand how any one could say the past years have been great for gaming when they are full of poorly delivered sequels. And no, I'm not saying all the games are bad.

Considering how many games that disappointed you, are you sure you just don't have unfairly high standards?

That's a fair question, except I'd say most of you have low standards. I'm going back in time and enjoying classic games I've missed out on. I tell you right now, I'm fucking lovin' it.

There were so many games released in the late 90's and early 2000's, way more than now and more diverse. It's a shame that all these games made by smaller developers are just over-looked.

Red dead redemption or half life 2 both of wich i heard nothing but praise but when i played them they where boring as fuck.

Fable 3- I really liked 1 and was really exited about another one (didn't play 2, no X-BOX), but it wasn't as good.

Stronghold 3 - The first game and Crusade where great, the second had a lot of issues and was ugly as hell even when it got first released, Legends fixed some things but it was a bit too weird spinoff (King Arthur, wizards, dragons, warewolves, vampires while previous games were mostly realistic). I hoped that they learned from past mistakes and return Stronghold to it's former glory but what we got was some unplayable ugly shit with no multi or skirmishes, they are trying to salvage what they can with bug and content patches but the damage has been done.

I remembered one more:
Empire Earth 3 - it was so bad it not only killed the franchise, their creators, but pretty much the entire genre (as far as I know). Maybe it's not all EE3 fault (think that C&C completely changing it's game-play is at fault too).

You know what, I think I will make a separate paragraph for death of RTS games as the greatest gaming disappointment. I played (and still do) a lot of Age of Empires, C&C, Empire Earth before it turned to crap (and some others), but now nobody makes such games anymore. What is there ?? Dawn of War 2, C&C 4 that's a completely different game-play mechanic (no building, getting resources by terrain control, heavy micromanagement), Starcraft 2 fits closer but they get away with it only because it's Blizzard and it's a micromanaging clickfest anyway. It's probably some inconceivable heresy for some but I don't even consider them RTSes. (Feel free to burn me at the stake) I want to slam waves of tanks (or footman) against each other while playing with friends not calculate the perfect building order and click hundreds of times a second to activate billion special abilities to win at all costs to get higher in the ladder.
I know there's some high level play in AoE or C&C but at least it's possible to play for fun at all.

If anyone proposes any recent games that would fit the tastes of a casual AoE, C&C player I will humbly admit that my rant was groundless.

Do you mean when you saw the fact that i chose this game as my dissapointment, or when you played the game?

The latter choice.

Just so many dumb things in the game.

The only thing I thought improved was the speed of the combat, and the speed only, it wasn't so boringly slow that I got up and make toast like I did while playing DA1.

and I'm firmly convinced we'll all be eating our words regarding Mass Effect 3 soon enough.
