Dragon Age 2 is still a great game. Its characters are second to none and the combat is much better than in the original. It just suffered from lack of environments and an odd story structure.

Cant argue with the chest!!
I thought the combat was a massive downgrade. Turned into spamming auto-attack endlessly at the endless stream of nonthreatening mooks.

Yeah but to be fair there are differences. Two retailers are not automatically of the same quality just because they are supposed to sell the same sort of things. If someone doesn't like a particular retailer but likes another that sells the same type of product that doesn't make it a double-standard because one might be considered better than another. This pretty much. Steam and Origin differ in many ways regarding privacy, and the owners' statements combined with the actions. The whole mudslinging around BF3 and CoD, the Origin privacy policies, EA overall managed to drive itself into the ground in the eyes of a large chunk of both Industry and Customers by now.

Now ... as for the Topic ... While I still play BRINK with a bunch of friends every now and then, I guess it'll be my entry here ... Way too many features lacking upon release, a horrific pre-order DLC setup and a rather high price...

Even though I wouldn't say it was a bad game, and honestly there were some really good parts to it, Dragon Age 2. Would've been fine if it hadn't been so obviously rushed. If BioWare had more time, I'm sure it would have been better.

I rather liked Brink, but then again, it something that I bought on impulse. Heard the console versions were terrible however, so that might be a part of it.

An odd story structure? That's not the problem, The problem is all the unnecessary padding it features combines with the bloodly cliff hanger at the end!

Dragon age 2? No. Introduction to Dragon age 2, yes.

If a game coming out in 2010, but not getting purchased by me until 2011 counts, Metroid: Other M.

Otherwise, hearing that Capcom canceled Mega Man Legends 3 because of "not meeting the criteria", despite not upholding their promise for a Prototype Version.

I'm torn between two.

Brink, by all rights that game should've been so much better than it was. That and the 3DS, the best game for it was a re-release and that's it, so far anyways.

I haven't bought 'new' games this year so far, (outside of Revelations, but it hasn't come out yet so the verdict is out on that for now) so I'll talk about a game I only just got around to playing recently.

Oblivion. Maybe it's because I'm not a PC gamer, but I do not have the patience to look through a MANUAL to figure out how to barter with someone. I'm sorry, but a tutorial should consist of more than just, "This is how you attack and defend, this is magic, this is your inventory, have fun."

Also, those horse controls are literally the worst I've ever seen in a game. Might as well not even fucking bother. Thank god for fast travel.

Well, I certainly did expect a lot more from the Duke...

Apart from that not much because I generally wait a bit before buying most games so I can read comments about it beforehand.

I really want to say this to.. but I knew going in it was gonna be a piece of crap.

In my noble tradition of playing anything that NIS puts out, I have to say Hyperdimension Neptunia. It was the spiritual sequel to Trinity Universe which was a cute, quirky JRPG that used a combat system I hadn't seen in over a decade. It was fun but needed some little tweaks to make it really good. I figured Neptunia would accomplish that. In actuality they stripped out all the good parts of TU and left in all the junk then pumped in a litany of horrible ideas and stripped away all the charm.

Of course, as disappointing as HDN was.. FF13 still holds the gold trophy of shitiness as far as greatest gaming disappointments for me.

Y'know, i thought this too. My main complaint was that the environments were amazing, but stuck to that theme for an ungodly amount of time. See, if there was one thing dante's inferno got right, (I actually liked it, but that's not the topic here) it was pacing. You stuck around in every circle just long enough for you to start wanting to see the next one, but not too long as to make it boring. Alice made me want to zoom to the next locale Not long after arriving in the one I was in. Honest to god, I was so sick of that Japanese section fir the majority of that section. It went on and on.

And yet...I liked it. Stranglely enough it was saved in my eyes by being horrendously cliched. The moving platforms, the timed switches, bottomless pits, I was raised on such a diet of platformer cliches, and it left me playing through the whole thing on a high of nostalgia.

Brink. I followed it for so long just for it to literally turn into the massive pile of steaming shit that it is.

But if there was an award that's ongoing for the most disappointing game then yeh, it's still Final Fantasy XIII.

I loved the Japanese section at first, but then after a while I got very tired of it. It was neat, but I wanted to move on. I agree though, Alice did not know how to pace itself, and I think that's what Dante did right, I didn't feel like I had to be there against my will.

Alice was such a nostalgia bomb (in a good way) because I love platforming so I think that and I loved the first one so much that those were the only things keeping me playing it. I loved the game, but it's frustrating to see what they could've done with it if they just fleshed it out more.

Diablo 3
No offline mode.

On its own, it made me a sad panda. But in the long run, it just shows the direction PC gaming is going, and it's not good.

Ubisoft's DRM.

I really thought they were going to back off with it. And it turns out they're sticking with it full-force.

Agreed. I enjoyed the game I really did. But they didn't explain much of the plot points. And the twist of the game at the end wasn't all that much of a twist. Even though in the trailers this certain character seemed like a good guy. I really wish he was. I mean the Environment? Wonderful, breath taking. But teasing us with boss battles that get fixed on their own not so much. Better weapons than the original? Yes definantly plus I love me the Hobby Horse. More puzzle solving than action? Not so much, it was nice to see you try and balance action with story and puzzles but over all it felt lacking and rushed in the end. Various enemies? Very good but they were a little too repeatitive a little more variety other than "This one flies" "This one you have to Phantom Ganon with." "This one is a mini-boss battle" isn't so worth it. And lastly tons of collectibles? Interesting but, the Asylum scene didn't seem needed or even all that required in the game and the game felt shorter than it should. Not to mention the dialogue of "There is no centaurs in Oxford" and never going into details as to what she was talking about. Lastly, Alice. She had wit, cunning, and a sharp tongue. Prone to melt downs from time to time. But in this one it's like she got a character reformation. Almost as if she's scared but fond of the nostalgia of Wonderland at the same time.

Should of been longer, a larger array of enemies would be nice, a little less puzzle solving, a few more bosses wouldn't of hurt, and more areas would of been nice. I mean sure your giving us a sequel of a game that came from 2000 but that one was even longer than this. It seems you have missed the point of a sequel this feels shorter than actual expansion. Fanservice.

I liked the game but it twas a big disappointment. I haven't felt hype for a game since Twilight Princess.

Too easy man. Especially since all anyone* wanted was Duke3D but with prettier graphics and got a crappy Halo knock-off.
Like I said though that one's too obvious/easy. My big disappointment has been New Vegas. I expected a few bugs. What I got instead felt like a beta. The assorted patches have helped but it still crashes way too often.
Edit: *myself and the few people I know who still thought 3D was good.

Well we all knew Brink and Duke Nukem were gonna suck, so the only real disappointment as in 'this is gonna be good', to 'holy shit this is bad.' was Dragon Age 2.

However I still need to see how Battlefield is gonna be from what I'm been seeing it looks a lot more like a BC2/MoH sequel then a BF2 sequel which is worrying.
