Duke Nukem Forever
oh please dont look at me like that
I'm actuallly grateful someone said this. I never liked this series to begin with and the fact that it got so much hype this year annoyed me. It was even worst when I had a friend who bought it. I warned him about it and 3 days later he returns it complaining loudly while I sit there with the 'I told you so' look.

L.A. Noire.

Thought it would be a fun detective game. Instead it's just boring.

I don't think they could ever have modernised Duke Nukem - even if they wanted to. A Macho misogynist ridding the world of alien scum, that concept isn't even 90's its 80's at best!

Considering the fact that I'd personally hyped up LA Noire so much that I thought it was going to be my dream game, I suppose that's the obvious choice. Still pretty good, but my god does it drag in the middle, and feels remarkably incomplete for a game with a pitch-perfect recreation of 1947 Los Angeles.

DNF too, but that's a given - and to be perfectly honest, I was kind of expecting it to suck.

From all the games I've gotten this year (Dragon Age 2, Portal 2, LA Noire, Deus Ex: Human Revolution), the one that was least awesome was Dragon Age 2. Not that I didn't enjoy it, mind you, it just wasn't as good as the other three.

Dragon Age II & sadly, Brink even though I loved it, it didn't live up for any of the cool things it claimed it did. Lovely idea but horrible premise.

That same explanation could go for Dragon Age II as well. And the explanation Bioware have for it being so bad was bullshit >_>

Alice: Madness returns.

So much more could have been done with that game...

so much...
Can you elaborate? I loved it to bits.

OT: Call of Jaurez. The engine was amazing in that it was amazing how terrible a modern one could be....

Brink... the potential was ENORMOUS, but they gave it below par graphics, chuggy gameplay, un-defined classes and for a game all about custamization, a lack of choice i felt.
Especially in the weapons department.
And the multi-player was unreasonable as fuck, 50 tries not a real person in a game.

I've been very fortunate this year, and not been disappointed once so far.

Been playing Fallout: New Vegas, Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Portal 2.
And I've been playing some Indie titles too (most notably Minecraft) along with some oldies from Steam that were on sale.

All in all it's been an excellent year to game for me.

Dragon's Age 2 and Duke Nukem Forever .Don't think I need to say why they fail so much.

Why the hate for LA Noire?

I thought it was brilliant, not perfect, but still a great game.

OT: Duke Nukem Forever, just a terrible, terrible game. That hive level was a new low in video games.

Always-on DRM. Aaaand that's about it. Can't say I'm disappointed at all with the standard of games lately, just the the bureaucracy going on with some recent and to-be releases. Annoys the hell out of me, and I'm worried about the direction the industry is taking this year.

Inb4 Dragon age 2 being terrible even though it's 7/10.

Oh wait, the idiots are already here.
Keyword here is disappointment, people can be disappointed with a game regardless of its "rating". Let's not talk out our butt holes because people don't happen to like a game that they have every right to feel was not as good as it should have been.

As for the OT: Brink.
So it's ok people are that disappointed (keeping in mind, we're comparing this 'disappointment' to Duke Nukem and other baddies of 2011) by a 7/10? That's just mindless hate.
Dude, review scores don't mean shit. Never once have I played a game that I really liked, then found out it was a 5/10 and thought "Oh, well I guess I hate it after all". Same goes in reverse.

Definitely Brink.

I was looking forward to it so much, and now I almost forgot it even existed...
It hurt, man. I was so goddamn hyped. Now I can't get excited about games, for fear of...

Oh godammit Skyrim.

Shadows of the Damned. It's by no means a BAD game, but I expected much more from the all-star development team. The guy who made Resident Evil 4 and Devil May Cry 3 made this game too freaking easy, Akira Yamaoka hammering a banjo doesn't quite fit with the tone of the game, and, as Yahtzee said, this is as close to the ground as Suda 51 ever was. It had such potential.
