Bioshock. Who would guess that a game with such great reviews would be a piece shit. It wasn't the worst game I ever played, but it's in the top ten. And I always hear people complain that Halo is overrated.
because it is
1. Plasmids are useless in every sense of the word
2. Basic infantry have more health than I do (An entire clip of anti-personell rounds takes a quarter of a splicer's health)
3. Hit detection is horrendously inconsitant
4. Ammo is non-existent in Rapture, it can't even really be called an FPS since the wrench is the only weapon you can use reliably (I think System Shock 2 had this same problem)
5. Big Daddies are supposed to be intimidating, but it's hard to fear something that you have no reason to fight since it results in wasting useful resources to obtain ADAM which is useless.
6. Setting was amazing, but there is no excuse in the world for bad gameplay
In conclusion: should've been a movie

Do you also want me to tell you how I managed to beat an elite bouncer to death with a wrench because I quite literally had no ammo for any weapon?
*snickers* this is too funny, I could go on about how wrong all that sounds but right now Imma go to bed, so I'll do it tomorrow and I was saying 'because it is" to Halo (in case u dont know)
At least Halo was fun. And tell how wrong I am to the elite bouncer.
1. Plasmids are very useful (you couldnt go through the game without them)
2. If you don't like the ammo thing (the splicers HP and whatever) use the one-two punch
3. (I was never good with knowing hit-detection, i don't really know what it is) but every time I shot at a splicer I hit them, maybe you just have bad aim
4. Ammo is NOT inconsistent, you can get ammo from the machines, you can create ammo, you can get it from desks and stuff and weapons that enemies drop
5. And Big Daddies are very imtimidating (especially when you're low on health and have no med packs) and ADAM is very helpful, you can get Gene tonics which make you more powerful and take less damage
6. and bout the movie I think they are actually making a movie (which I would love to see)
7. (this is my own qualm about Halo) Halo 1 is fine, but two and 3 are for pansies (I don't mean only pansies play it I just mean regenerating health is for people who hate challenges)

Borderlands

I play through the whole goddamn game looking for the guns, money, treasure, and women that were promised to be in the vault. I get there, the destroyer crawls out, and it puts up about as much fight as a dead goldfish. I kill it without even dieing, just to get like 400$ and a green level shotgun (I had gotten better treasure in the first half hour of playing). I spent a half hour searching around before I realised there was nothing else. I was so pissed off that that was the last time I played that game.

GTA 4

Because they hyped it more than I had previously thought possible, and it ended up being an extremely stripped down GTA SA in a much duller environment hiding behind a decent story and good graphics.

1. Only because the game forces them on you in no uncertain terms (a huge wall of ice blocking my way, I wonder. Oh look, the game took all my guns through contrived means)

2. works at the begginning, but quickly loses its viability when I'm being shot and it does little damage. Couple with the fact that switching between wrench and plasmid is extremely cumbersome

3. I've seen crossbow bolts consitantly move through the head without doing any damage

4. Then why was I running through half the game with no ammo. I bought ammo, I made ammo, I searched every fucking place for ammo and still never had any.

5. They're not intimidating because you have no reason to fight them

7. Yeah, it sucks that now you have to think about where you are and can't go into a massive firefight with 2 health.

Either FF:Crystal Chronicles, a bland action RPG with stupid non-nonsensical bull-shit prose, I also lacked the friends to play it with. I was excepting so much from the FF name but it just ended up being lackluster.

Or Wild Arms 4, It threw out Wild Arms 3's exploration, creative puzzles, The Character prologues and likable characters. It replaced them with a whiny cast of children, some generic puzzles that amounted to taking a sword or a staff and whacking things and platforming. Mind you the platforming wouldn't be all bad if Jude, the main charter, didn't have to shout Jump every time he did so and the Hex battle system was interesting enough but after playing the previous Wild Arms it was just disappointing.

Far Cry 2, here we were being promised this deep game with a great map that you could lose yourself in for hours. Instead we get a boring, repetative and unimaginative shooter with more useless gameplay mechanics than a game created by a autism suffer.

Modern Warfare 2. I went into it aware that this installment was focused on multiplayer, but hoping that Infinity Ward would throw a bone to people who wanted to continue the story, and low and behold, all sense of plausibility evaporated once the International Space Station blew up.

I should have rented it (40 hours is too short) as I don't know if I'll ever bother to play it again. Generic story, terrible balance, boring characters, stupid party AI (what a miss there. A FFXII like priority system in the "gambits" could have saved the party AI) and bland graphics made this one big letdown.
How did you get through it in 40 hours? I can only see that happening if you mash the space bar to skip dialogue, skip side quests and companion quests, and leave places mostly unexplored. Perhaps I just play alot slower than most though.

For me its definatly FF12. That game killed the series outright for me. I've no interest in XIII as a result of it. After 40 hours of game time I realized I had no interest in any character in the game, I had very little idea what was going on, I had no interest in exploring the world, the world seemed small anyway. The combat system was just horrible imo. The gambit thing as mentioned previously was ok, but my main problem with it was it emulated MMORPGS. If I want to play an MMORPG I'll play one. What I want from my FF games combat system is turn based. I want to line up the attacks one by one, not have AI try follow a preset system in an action game flow.

Second would be GTA4. It started off great, but soon that sparkle faded. Too much of the content I loved from previous games were removed and the game took itself too serious.

Spore especially

I waited four years for that game
What didn't you like about Empire Total war. As soon as I have a GPU that can take it I was going to get that game. Was it just the era that isn't interesting to some people or was there a serious flaw in the game that I should know about?

Wow, so many possibilities (Spore, Medival: Total War 2... just not as good as the first, FEAR 2, GTA IV)... but, I may have to go with:

Neverwinter Nights.

For the same reasons someone mentioned above. NWN was built as a D&D building platform and not really as a stand alone game, so the primary campaign was just bland as hell, with boring characters, a really awful lack of party mechanics (1 henchman? really?), and so much lost potential.

NWN was all promise and no delivery. At least Hordes of the Underdark was good. Bioware really tripped on this one though.

It was a bit of a train wreck

The AI is retarded, to the point of non-existence

the factions are mostly recoloured identical models

Clone armies, no variation

Crashes/lags occasionally (prone to Memory Leaks)

We were lied to by CA (Developers), who pretended it was a flawless Game-of-the-Decade affair and later apologised for lying on the grounds that they really needed to make a profit from it

Empire: Total War's saving grace for me was the American Revolution "campaign." I enjoyed that immensely, which is why I wasn't put off by the game. The AI was pretty dumb overall though. One of these days, CA will figure out how to create smart AI, and won't have to resort to giving the COM unlimited money/resources, multiple instantly created units for free, and significant valor bonuses in order to make up for its stupidity.

Personally, I think Medieval 1 was the height of the series so far.

Prototype for me. Concept was pretty cool. But the clusterfuck amount of mostly useless moves made combat frustrating, the bland characters and repetitive missions didn't help either.
Then I bought inFamous which everyone was telling me wasn't as good. Turned out to be 10 times better.

Every popular game out there, because hating popular things is badass and cool.

I was let down by Gears of War 2, Halo 3 and ODST, not because there was anything bad about them, but because I convinced myself that they would much better than I think they turned out to be. Too many unnecessary changes and not enough right ones.

GTA 4 was good, but I was expecting a bit more effort. It's bizarre when a sequel takes away features rather than adds them.

Actually what difficulty were you playing on? (I always had lots of ammo)

Also you can go into a battle with two health, you just have to be very careful,, also in Bioshock if you're low on health you can lure enemies through a door way then shoot their heads or shock them, or beat them with the wrench, well if you didn't like Bioshock at leaast try BS 2, it's MUCH better and the ammo problem you seem to have is non-existant in 2 (t least it was for me)

SOOOOOOOOO letdown by Fallout 3. I was expected the best game ever. What I got was my 4rd favorite game of that year. Behind Saint's Row 2, GTA4, and Fable 2.

Fable 2:

Molyneux is a liar, plain and simple, didnt fature half the things he mentioned and the stuff that made it in was poorly implemented, it was also wwaayyyy to short.
