Biggest letdown at the end of a game (spoiler warning!)

I just finished Fallout 3 (I know, I'm a bit after, but humor me), and just had the biggest letdown ever in a game.
That ending was without doubt the worst one ever of all the games I have played. I got no satisfaction out of playing it to the end and just felt that all of my work had been for nothing if my carater is dead.

And, yes, I know that if I buy Broken Steel, I get to play more, but that is beside the point.

So, what is your worst letdown in a games ending?

Halo 2. "The Master Chief has returned to Earth. Shit is about to kick o- It's fucking over?!"

In the middle of a cutscene the game ends. It was clearly a cutscene that was meant to bridge a transition not to end the game.

imo the worst ending is probably oblivion. you do all the work to get there and then
martin just comes in and kills mehrunes dagon, taking all the glory for the work that you did
i was pretty pissed off by this.

At least they somewhat fixed Fallout 3 with Broken Steel DLC.

I'd say the biggest letdowns for me were Halo 2 and Crysis. Fucking cliffhangers.

I haven't bought either sequel from those taffers.

Haha, when I saw the topic I knew it was about Fallout 3. I've seen al ot of people who didn't like that ending. I didn't really mind the ending. Wasn't really a fantastic one, but you gave your (or that girls) life to save the future of the wasteland. Good enough for me.

Assassin's Creed 1. Mainly because you don't know what the hell is going on after you get out of the Animus. Either way, I still love the series and I can't wait for Revelations to come out.

Borderlands. You kill that large thing and then the Vault closes! I wanted to see what was at least inside!

Totally agree. I spend the entire game running around and doing all the work, then he gets all the glory. Bah! I should have been king!

Also, Fable III. The whole fighting a war, getting to be king thing sounded awesome but turned out to be so awfully done that it ruined a decent game.

For me Dragon Age 2.

I really liked the ending for Dragon Age:Origins rapped almost everything up nicely with few minor ending changes depending on how you played.

Dragon Age 2 however had me shouting obscenities at the screen. I liked Dragon Age 2 (constant room re-use aside), but the effectively "super powered" Night Commander just didn't leave a good taste in my mouth.

Borderlands. It just completely fizzled.

Assassin's Creed 2. The plot was getting steadily stupider from about half way through. But at the end it just shat itself inside out.

I think that thing was all that was in the Vault. The Vault Hunters had been tricked through promises of fame and fortune just to sort out a big ugly bugger that was threatening... something.
That's a possible conclusion I came to after over-thinking it, anyway.

Personally, I'd go with Heavenly Sword.
The villain gets to live to see another day. The hero gets a funeral.
Seriously, what the hell?!

My biggest letdown was on Dead Rising 2, and it was the move you got when you reach level 50.

Which is 'Throw'. And it's literally just picking up a zombie and then throwing it. That's it.

Really, Capcom? I fight my way through 50 levels and THIS is what I get? I was so pissed off I haven't even played Dead Rising 2 since.

Which shows they failed to understand why people hated the ending so much. It wasn't the ending, but the major, major plot holes that were involved in it.

Anyway:

Save the Wasteland and sacrifice yourself to do it by going into an irradiated room, kindly ignoring your friends the ghoul and the mutant who could do it for you, considering that they are immune to radiation.
Lets' go treasure hunting and get us some loot, oh, so the Vault is actually a portal, and there is a monster to kill, it died, the end...
Oh, so I side with the Mages, Orsino goes crazy and we kill him, Meredith goes crazy and we kill her, now we have to run for it. Okay let's side with the Templars. Orsino goes crazy and we kill him, Meredith goes crazy and we kill her, now we have to run for it.

Fuck you Bioware and your illusion of choice.
Okay so we get the piece of Eden in real life not just in the Animus, and we stab our friend without any choice, wait, did I just spend 15 hours to progress half an hour into the series actual plot?
Final Boss, takes five seconds to beat and it cannot kill you... you also cannot miss when you fire. It made up for it in the epilogue though.

Yeah; there were parts of the main quest I felt were really good... up till the point it became a giant "fetch and escort" mission, with the brief and enjoyable section in the Paradise place, considering how good some of the guild quests were, it felt like a pretty big let-down.

I really disliked the ending of Fable: The Lost Chapters.
You kill the big bad guy, and the game just goes: 'Congratulations, hero of Albion!'.

That was it. No epilogue or anything. THE END, just like that.

Im honestly surprised no one has posted this yet but the ending to Clive Barker's Jericho. AMAZING game and then you take out the Firstborn, last boss through an inventive fighting system and then... you jump in a puddle. Credits. I stared at the screen for like 10 minutes and al that was going through my head again and again. WHATTHEFUCKWHATTHEFUCKWHATTHEFUCK.

I was dissapointed with Bulletstorms ending.
You don't kill Sarrano, Ishii gets re-programmed to work for him and Gray and Trishka are stuck in an escape pod floating around saying something along the lines of "We'll get him next time"
Come on! For a shooter that focuses entirely on mindless yet creative killing (Not a bad thing) I was expecting a creative ending
(Was a mech-suit too hard to put in?)

after an amazing final battle in Majora's Mask, the ending was disappointing. it tried to be philosophical but didn't do a very good job. the only good part is when Link turns to leave and Tatl says 'Link...thank you'.
