I searchbar checked this and there hasn't been a thread on this since around June of last year.

So, I just finished insanity Mass Effect 2 and was semi-impressed at the difficulty, but not overwhelmed.

I was thinking about games that were "hard" and thinking of all the ones that I really felt I accomplished something in and was proud of. Throwing out all the MMO raids in EQ and WoW, which are multi-player accomplishments, I was trying to think of what games I beat or levels I beat and actually felt like I had accomplished something.

I tried to throw out all the games that make themselves "hard" by confusing the term with "completely random" and "stupidly cheap..." like ... err... fighting games (you all remember the old days of Mortal Kombat 2 when you would input a move and the computer, knowing what command you were giving, would instantly counter it. That's cheap, not "hard.").

I always come back to one moment and that was beating the "Infinity Dungeon" in Tobal No. 1 on the PS1.

What other ones come to mind?

Me and my friends were playing MW2, were at about 198-150 up in domination, then they capped our C flag (the last one we had left). We were about to lose, then my friend snuck round the back and capped A, and we won. That wasn't my biggest, but certainly an honourable mention.

It took me four years to finish San Andreas. Because of the godawful flight controls of the PC port, I never got further than the flight school. I eventually ended up buying the Xbox version and finishing it on the 360 through the backwards compatibility, after still getting stuck at the damn flight school for a while again.

MW2 when my character was making a run from the 'estate' house to the helicopter. about 20 people behind me, 20 people in front of me, all shooting me. In the end, shooting them didn;t work. I just stun grenaded my way through, bashing people in the head if they got in my way....and even that only JUST got me through.

And after all that effort....well if you've played it, you know. >.< xx

as a crewman whom bailed seconds before his APC blew up, and had been behind the enemy lines for around 15min.

On Modern Warfare 2 on team deathmatch. I threw a knife almost straight up into the air, knowing one day it must come down on some poor sod's head. It did. And it was the game winning kill. So the whole side of the screen was filled with "holy shit" and "lol". Hehe.

Some of the challenges in MW2.

Like the 1000 care package, RPD mastery, killing an enemy with his own claymore, and a bunch of others I can't remember now.

I think my biggest OMG moment was the last level of Lost Planet. I was struggling with the huge-ass VS battle at the end. I had the enemy's life bar down to where one more hit would kill him. My life bar was like that too, though. we hit each other at the same time, and both our life bars went to 0. I thought "dammit, I died AGAIN!" But then popped up the "mission accomplished" banner, and that's when the moment hit.

Being a part of one of the first groups in the world to kill the Lich King in World of Warcraft. That put me on a high note for about 2 weeks.

several levels of Jak 2, and beating Kingdom Hearts for the first time was an amazing feeling(I sucked on my first playthrough) as well as beating Sephiroth. Oh and 100% completing Ratchet and clank 1

When I got "Pit Boss" in MW2. It was even better because I screwed up in the middle but still got it. I punched the air.
