Really? I always felt that the suit in Crysis was the best thing in the entire game. It actually made you think during combat, especially if you were trying to be sneaky and had about 5 seconds of stealth left with 3 enemies standing around you.

Also, if the OP is talking about CoD, CoD was always about the action, not realism. Sure realism is a nice touch, but the main core of the game was about getting in there and killing stuff. The producers even said so themselves in an interview.

Anyway, one thing I'm sick of is the topping-off system of reloading.
I didn't mind crysis, but I found the suit element just a waste of my time.

All I had to do to avoid being captured with the maximum stealth was find a bush and crouch, the super strength element was useless for anything apart from stuffing around. So basically I found the only useful way to use the suit was to stealth, and then initiate armour. Repeat.

That's why I call it a gimmick.
I liked using super strength. Only because if you timed the change from super speed to a strength when you punch somebody they would fly 20ft through the air.

Terrible voice-acting in a game that has actual need for real dialogue. Sometimes they can get away with it, but when you're getting all swept up in moment and the guy suddenly doesn't sound like his girl died...grrr.

Escort missions.
Seconded.

And also when a game has checkpoints/autosaves right before sumthing really sudden/scary is going to happen. After the 3rd or forth time they do that you start to notice the pattern and it kinda kills the whole suspence or tense feeling in the game. At least for me anyway, F.E.A.R. was a bad one for this.

Games with a time limit (Majoras Mask, Dead Rising). In sandbox shooters (GTA and Saints Row) a normal pedestrian will not fall down after being shot in the chest with a pistol. Seriously, a normal person will fall over crying after being shot in the hand let alone the chest. Escorts. Enemies that are immune to attack 'x' for no apparent reason. Fighting games in general. Health packs/food that removes all bullet wounds/flesh wounds INSTANTLY!

I've only had two reoccurring problems when it comes to gaming. One: Quick Time Events are by far the most useless and annoying idea ever implemented in gaming especially in Clive Barker's Jericho. They were small and very easy to look over. Two: (To steal a term from Yahtzee) Pants On Your Head Retarded AI. Although I was going to put down escort missions I remembered that most of the time it isn't the mission but the escortee's(Probably not a word)AI. The mission is a challenge but if the AI is Pants On Your Head Retarded, then you won't make it far.

Mine is the annoying timed racing gimmick developers pull when they're bored. Spoils a perfectly fun adventure game or RPG for me, it's just, "Ugh...ok, what's the time to beat now before I can move on?"
oh god, MGS2, "RAIDEN!"
"yes colonel"
"you have 400 seconds to get to another piece of exposition"
"do you know what day it is jack?"

ARGHHH, it makes me want to bite my hands off.

Enemies with ridiculously accurate grenade throws and quicktime events.

Oh, and PC games being released broken, that's right EA, lets release Mercs 2 for PC so that the first time you play all the enemy AI ignores you except when you are in a vehicle. /facepalm

Agreed, and in some cases, why the hell I can't just go straight through the rubble rather than having to search everywhere for some obscure sidedoor which requires me to walk in a massive circle to get back to where I want to be. My example is the Library in Rainbow Six Vegas 2, terrorists blow up the entrace, why can't I blow up the rubble? between me and my squad we're carrying enough C4 to level a skyscraper!

I agree about escort missions, have hated them for ages (remember the "skipping" missiles in Wing Commander 3?) and nothing's gonna change that.
I have another more recent one, and that is "achievements" in 360 games that requires paid-for XBL material or extra equipment. Prime example, the "Completionist" one in Fable II needs stuff from Pub Games as well, and I'm certain this will be more common in the future. As for the "extra equipment", I'm talking about things like Viva Pinata:Trouble in Paradise that tells you to get the Xbox Live camera and scan cards printable from their homepage to get specials and achievements. It's a fun extra, but I think putting it under achievements is kind of unfair.

The standard double cross plot twist either the npcs double cross you or when you double cross the npcs. Its so common now its no longer a twist.

To me it's a twist when the character isnt double crossed

when games allow you to heal your team mates but when YOU go down its done. your team is apparently to damn dumb to help you.
Knowing that most of these fps games now adays COULD have a cover system but the developers choose to not even give you a damn lean button. Believe it or not the only truly fps cover system ive ever seen that was just a bit more the tilt the camera sleightly to the left and right is the greg hastings tournament paintball games. I swear to you guys that they had the best fps controls i ever used. specially for console. and it had at least one or two buttons doing little to nothing.so yeah. nevertheless.
Any timed rpg
any game where you can game over by using an ability too much. breath of fire dragon quarter can fook off with that noise
escort missions.im currently having bad flashbacks of such from the armored core series and such
rpgs where i cant create my own character
sacrificing story for multiplayer. THATS one of my biggest annoyances
having almost every hero being a cookie cutter gruff badass former or current military guy/girl. most are dark haired dark eyed angry at their dads badasses that all seemed to be modeled off of john wayne, clint eastwood, and charles bronson COMBINED. is it too much to ask for a optimistic fatalist happy badass?i know of like one or twoin videogames and they are in the same series...and thats dante and his lil clone nero

/end rant for now

Not enough save points. If i'm midgame and it freezes (steam crash on my PC or my 360 just being itself) for some reason, and my last save point was too far back, ill just put the game away.

Game designers having you have to rotate the control stick in just the right way for it to register (repeatedly done in any god of war game). And button mashing to simulate using more strength or some BS like that. I only need mention the Wii, no need to elaborate past that.

NPCs knowing about bad stuff I've done when theres NO WAY they could have known

Finally, cutscenes doing the stuff I actually want to do. The end of MGS4...

*small spoiler*

... when snake and ocelot (or whatever u want to call him idc) start fighting and its all cutscene at first, i was literally yelling at the game to let me play haha they eventually deliver but those first minutes were painful

Any escort mission, or pretty much anytime a game gives you "allies" who are detrimental to gameplay. I failed a mission in GTA IV because Packie MacCreary ran in front of me while I was using my AK-47.
