I got a million shocks in Doom 3 with all the demons coming up from the ground or from the ceiling and then my weapon starts talking to me asking for blood!

"The Polito form is dead, insect. Are you afraid? What is it you fear? The end of your trivial existence?"

Nothing has made me go eek since...
Oh God, SHODAN....

That being said, I'm never going to be able to comfortably hear someone ask me 'Would you kindly...'

In Condemned: Criminal Origins
there is a part where you're in an old abandoned school and you do a little forensic check of a dead body in a gym locker. When you're about to inspect a part of it the body suddenly screams wildly and jumps out at you.
I've seen two friends scream bloody murder as they played that part and it gave me such a shock I had to pause for a few seconds to recover.

The biggest shock for me in a game was in KotOR when you
behead Bastilla on the Star Forge.
I'm pretty sure that isn't canon, though.
I agree it is not:
1 a general prinicple
2 a set of writings as genuinely accetped by a particular author; sacred writings in the Bible
3 a member of the clergy with duties in a cathedral
4 a member of certain Roman Catholic religious orders
5 the central unchanging part of the Roman Catholic mass
6 a passage or piece of music in which a theme is taken up by two or more parts in succession

Nope, definately not canon.

Though, if you meant light/dark, it doesn't give you either.

Fallout 3, when sparks flew out of the back of my computer as my power supply exploded because of the video card I put in to play it.

The ladder in F.E.A.R. 1. If you've played it, you know what I'm talking about.
I was JUST THINKING ON THAT.

Edit: Also, Eternal Darkness. Until you get the spell to restore sanity, the game is SCARY.

Half Life 2 Episode 2. I literally bawled like a child at the ending. And I'm NOT spoiling that for anyone.

Oh and Halo 3. When Johnson dies. I literally yelled "NOOOOOOOOOOO".
That was the big shock for me as well. It literally came out of nowhere.

Seriously, and not to sound like a fanboy, but Bioshock's story was simply amazing, very provocative
That sounds a bit more like a WTF moment and yeah Bioshock was amazing in all aspects of game play and especially story something most games need to remember. But biggest suprise for me may have to be the truth about Revan in Kotor. Although I never really cared for her I guess Aeriths death in FF7. Kratos' father is a little bit of a suprise to but really more of a cockslap.

Colour me inventive but I'm going to jump aboard the BioShock wagon and say "Would you kindly..."

That bit and the first time in the abandoned (there's that word again) shopping centre when one of the mannequins attacks.

When I was playing the F.E.A.R. 2 demo and my bastard of an uncle came up behind me in a mask, grabbed me, tried to drag me out of the chair and screaming like a maniac.

For in game, I'd have to agree with Half-Life 2: Episode 2. I hated seeing him go.

That Jill was the cloaked figure in RE5. I DEFINITELY DID NOT SEE THAT COMING!!!!!

On a serious note, I was shocked by the ending to S.T.A.L.K.E.R:Clear Sky because it was so......anti-climactic.

SPOILERIFIC POST.

Anyways I have to say the biggest shocks came with Bioshock(You all know what), and on Mass Effect when you are on Virmire and have to make that choice.

It has to be in FFVII when Aeris dies...

I remember opening my brand new copy when the game came out and playing straight through to that moment... I was so shocked by it that I put the game down for months lol.

For me it was KOTOR

when you find out your actually Revan.
You beat me to it.

Next one, brace yourselves..

In the game Metal Gear Solid you see the DARPA cheif and the president of Armstech die. Both of them told you that they gave away the code that gave your enemy the ability to launch a nuclear weapon. The only way the enemy can launch a nuke is with those passwords or the card keys. After that Meryl gives you one of the card keys. You go to the end of the game not collecting another card. At the end you learn that the one card is three keys in one. The shape of the card changes depending on tempurature. Once you figure that out, you insert all of the card keys and find out that the enemy didn't get the passwords. The DARPA chief was actually someone in disguise and he lied to you about the password so you would eventually get to the end and put in the card keys. They needed you to do this because Ocelot accidentally killed him. So you basically hand them nuclear capabilities on a silver plater. Here's another twist, Ocelot actually killed the DARPA chief on purpose because he discovered that Ocelot was with the Patriots.

In the first Saints Row game when your characters first lines of the entire game about 3/4 of the way through are along the lines of 'No way *****, those are last seasons' referring to some shoes a female character has in her bag.

I was like WTF, why would your characters first line of a game be an insult about fashion when the game is about gans and violence etc...
