AVP.

Pretty much every time I got killed by a facehugger.

I haven't dared install the game post-format since because of this silly little phobia iI've had since the game was released.

In the first Thief, going through the prison trying to dodge Hammerite guards. Was doing a good job dodging them til one saw me and came right at me in my dark little corner. My finger moved of its own free will to the Escape key and was a couple of days before I tried playing again. It reminded me too much of a nightmare I once had.

In the first Saints Row game when your characters first lines of the entire game about 3/4 of the way through are along the lines of 'No way *****, those are last seasons' referring to some shoes a female character has in her bag.

I was like WTF, why would your characters first line of a game be an insult about fashion when the game is about gans and violence etc...
LOL I remember that part and going "The fuck he just say?" Your character was such a dumbass in the first SR.

I completely agree about KoToR, and no Bastil dying isn't canon, she's in the second one.

The ladder in F.E.A.R. 1. If you've played it, you know what I'm talking about.
Totally. Man, I nearly fell from my seat.
It's like the very last thing you expect at that point.

EDIT: Oh, also, Sanitarium. That game is a freaking trip.

I would have to say the only thing that really made me jump in Bioshock.
The 3 plasters in the bathroom in Fort Frolic. I never saw it coming. (It wasn't even that scary lol.)
*(I am sorry to say I never found the moving plaster splicer and the doctor. Still confused as to how I missed it.)

In Soul Nomad, as you approach the location of the third World Eater... Those who have played know what happens next. It still gives me chills on how very magnificent the plot was after that point.

The hotel in Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. But then it just got silly in the kitchen.

When it dawned on me what was actually going on in Bioshock (when you meet Ryan). I'd somehow managed to ignore all my friends telling me what had happened and hadn't read any reviews so I literally had no idea had it finished.

I'm not surprised I haven't seen it here but one has to come from Saint's Row 2 when

Eesh is killed by the Ronin.

That scene was so expertly directed and shot that... it literally took my breath away. My mate laughed at me when I gasped on Live, but I found it truly amazing.

Also, I'd have to say the end of CoD4, which had me yelling at the TV screen.

Oh, and the ending of Braid. I was in a Live Party at the time and I was constantly saying "My word, this is amazing!"

Final Fantasy VI. If you haven't played, don't spoil one of the greatest moments in gaming history.
After the incident in floating continent, the whole world collapses. Scene goes dark and you find your character alone on barren, solitary island in the middle of nowhere. The way it's presented makes it feel so post-apocalyptic. I literally thought "what the hell happened there?" That has to be the biggest surprise I've had in a video game.

Probably the moment when the invisible bug from the castle sewers in RE4 first jumps at you. I was scared shitless throughout that whole level. But then I got out and kicked some major priest ass.
