So what part of Skyrim has been the biggest anticlimax for you so far? What has been built up so much, but ultimately disappointed?
For me, it's a way into the main story, and it involves Odahviing, if you haven't yet encountered, and left him, then don't click the spoiler.
So, after trapping him in Dragonsreach, I eventually found out where I need to go to defeat Alduin, and he tells me that I'll never get there without him. So of course already, I am hopeful that I can ride him, and then he says he will take me, and that once I have flown with him, I am going to be envious of the mighty dragons. So now I'm imagining maybe a railroad section where I get to fly around on him, or at the very least a decent cutscene as we fly across Skyrim to the terror of everybody below us. But no, I jump onti his back, and all of a sudden it cuts to a loading screen, then I wake up at the other end.

So what disappointed you after building you up?

The ending of the campaign, though the segment you mention is pretty high up there.

Oh look! The final boss is a slightly stronger dragon than the ones I've been killing all over Skyrim since the start. Yipee. The worst part was that after I got back to the Throat of the World, with a dozen dragons flying overhead I thought "yeah, this is it, I get to wage a one-Dragonborn-war against them all at the same time!" But no, they left and I'm back to doing the same boring side-quests.

The ending of the thieves guild questline.

after all the talk about making you the guild leader and stuff, they do NOTHING after you finished and the main thief guy is always too busy to talk to you. They don't even tell you that you still need to grind the 25fetchquests until they decide to actually name you guildmaster.

But you get to meet Nocturnal in person. Worth it if you ask me.
