For Mass Effect 2, I did such a good job of avoiding anything resembling a spoiler that each squadmate I met was a complete surprise to me. Then, in a moment of cockiness, I glanced at a Wiki entry which revealed the identity of the final (non-DLC) squaddie.

Probably the true identity of Revan from KOTOR. It really blew my mind anyway (just the way that the information is presented) but still: damn you, Mr. Internet.

For me, it's a toss-up between this and Master Li's betrayal in Jade Empire. The only time a plot twist has actually taken me by surprise.

What surprises me is that no one seems to have seen that one coming. I could tell Master Li was the villain the moment I saw him.

Going through the stroggification process in Quake 4 (I don't have to bother with spoiler warnings because, as I said, it's on the frigging box)

Lol, I have the box for Quake 4 and I must have never read it :O. That moment was wtf for me . I guess because I bought the game with about 3 others secondhand is probably partially to blame...
Then again, I do rarely read the boxes for games, as I tend to read bits and pieces on the internet which I end up forgetting anyway XD. There's usually a few months between wanting a game and buying a game with me lol.
