*shrugs*

i have better 'Zelda' games then Nintendo have produced (Darksiders1-2, Okami) so i'm not particularly interested in the on going adventures of 'that point eared guy that saves the world cause of destiny and stuff'

People do realize that keeping the art style doesn't necessarily mean keeping the color scheme, right? I'm imagining darker/more subdued tones while keeping the design style.

I'm also super pumped for this game and can't wait for it to come out. I'll be out of college and hopefully have a real job by then!

Oh, for god sake, when will people stop getting butthurt over the visual styles of WW and SS? It's just pathetic.
Well it's not really butthurt, It really is just way too cartoony. Especially compared to the other more well known Zelda games like Majora's Mask, Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, etc.

There's a reason those games are more critically acclaimed compared to WW and SS.

Also, I thought SS was pretty disappointing myself. Well...actually no, I kind of expected it to be lackluster. What I hoped was for the theme for the next Zelda game to be more like Majora's Mask because of how different and dark it was compared to all of the other Zelda games. And it would probably be a lot more appreciated than the cartoony theme and corny dialog it had in SS.
Are you seriously saying that OoT and MM were more critically acclaimed because of their art style? And what's wrong with "cartoony"? Nothing. There's nothing inherently bad about a cartoon style. Do you think a game like Mad World or the Tales games would be better without a cartoony style? Of course they wouldn't. And OoT and MM had a pretty cartoonish style to them too. Like so:

It's different to how WW and SS look but that's still pretty cartoony.

And yet again, I see someone saying how Zelda should be "dark". Dark isn't inherently good either. Making any game "dark" will not automatically make it good. It adds nothing in terms of quality, it's simply a tone to aim for. Zelda has proven consistently that it is a quality game, dark or not.

I wasn't looking for a repeat of the TP style or even anything "dark" (I've made many a rebuttal to this stupid meme that Zelda needs to be "dark"), but just something new.
If "dark" means dark subject matter and spooky, haunting situations that contrast with Zelda's well-known cheery, adventurous tone, I disagree. Zelda doesn't need that stuff but it has worked very well so far. I can't imagine Ocarina without it. If "dark" means brooding emo-Link starts rocking the eyeliner look, then I agree times ten.

The more excited they get about the controls, the more worried I get. Hopefully history isn't repeating itself here.
I'm referring to both. Usually when people say they want a "dark" Zelda they seem to be talking about the latter. But like you say, Zelda has actually dealt with some dark subject matter before, but in a very subtle, metaphoric way. It's also been done pretty well, but it's not necessary. People tend to miss the dark themes when they're dealt with like that, so they just keep asking for it. They don't know what they really want.

Aaaaw.... I was hoping they were going to change the direction of the game and place it an other medieval theme again, wouldn't it be great if they placed it in a futuristic setting for once? That would be some innovation on their part but that wont happen sadly.

About "dark" Zelda games i think the best example is majoras mask, yes it does have a cartoony art style but isn't the story and the setting very bleak?
The first section off the game you learn that you are doomed and that the world will follow, and there is no "save the princess" (not a bad thing, just slightly over used).
TP also had a "dark" setting, but the best thing that they did there is the pacing of the story.
First classic start, gf/princess is kidnapped, but after that it is really good, 2 BIG bad guys and good plot twist, but the best thing in TP is the replacement with the some what useless fairy with a useful and plot central character.

So i think it is OK that they use SS art style but i hope the implement a story on the same level of TP and maybe place the same sens of omnipresent menace like in MM.

WW was awesome. SS...meh. I think the issue is that SS failed to really draw a lot of people into its world and characters, and I think the graphics had something to do with that. They just lacked a certain emotional resonance, intensity and depth. WW had it, so it wasn't the cartoon look. The game reminded me of a cream-puff. A redundant cream-puff with a lot of bloom effects, somewhat threadbare visual design elements, muddled graphics that lacked contrast, awkward lips, hardly any engaging exploration elements, and a poor overworld.... That metaphor didn't go the way I'd hoped.

..I didn't like the art style much in SS. Twilight Princess is where it's at, damn it. That game was easily one of my favourite Zelda games and the style was a big part of that.

Sigh.

I used to like Zelda but they've been consistently way too big since Wind Waker. This is not a promising direction.

Nothing makes better art than throwing money at it and adding hundreds of cooks to the kitchen!!!

Wind waker had the best style. Nintendo really needs to do some new property. They are running mario and zelda into the ground.

Sounds good, but we'll see how well it delivers on these promises. If the Wii U's 1st party titles are as amazing as is described here I may need to get one.

This sounds cool, but... Can we not focus on Zelda, and ask for some other series to get some attention?
Seriously. We need another F-Zero.

TL;DR:

+ Nintendo is currently working on the next "Legend of Zelda" game for the WiiU.
+ The game will be in HD and use the same Art Style "Skyward Sword" used.
+ It will be larger then all the previous Legend of Zelda Games. A Test Dungeon, a Forest, is as big as Hyrule Field and is all in 1 Dungeon. Other parts of the game are so big they are divided into 3 Parts and will take hours to finish (Literally).
+ No Online Multiplayer, but there will be online features, such as the MiiVerse.
+ The game will be released in 2014, has the largest Nintendo EAD Staff has been working on it, and the game has a "4 Year Development".

So, what are your guys thoughts? I know the WiiU Is not really popular here, but the Legend of Zelda certainly is. Will this game make you wanna buy a WiiU?

Share with us!
Im interested, but not interested enough to buy the WiiU. I want to hear and see more before I make such a call, both about this game and the WiiU itself. I got the Wii, and owned about 6 games for it. Its just collecting dust now.

As awesome as "Zelda2014" sounds, if its the only game that I would want on the WiiU, than ill just rent the WiiU and the game.

That's why that video of Skyward Sword proves nothing. The improvement of the Wii U's visuals won't just come from a resolution bump, but from more graphical horsepower and grunt. There's no reason why a Wii U Zelda won't be able to keep the watercolour effect of SS, while having all the technical detail and power of the tech demo.
...You completely missed the point. It had nothing to do with 1080p, but the style itself. I didn't even notice the SS video was up-scaled lol. The whole bait&switch was about the style, that is why Wind Waker was a financial failure. Nintendo showed a video of what everyone expected and wanted of Zelda at one of the Gamecube's first E3s, then delivered an entierly different game. Now, Nintendo is yet again showing a video of what most everyone expects and wants of a next-gen Zelda title, and they won't deliver that at all. No matter how pretty the SS style might look from an objective point of view, you can't really make it anymore impressive then what the wii already showed. If they don't want to upset people, it's going to have to look dramatically more amazing then anything the wii was capable of producing, otherwise Nintendo is going to look all the more bad alongside the new Xbox and PS4 that will be on store shelves when this game releases.
