I never understood why people have such a large love for one thing, and won't give the other a try just because they think the other is the best thing ever.
I mean in my since I am always open minded to things, especially towards my opinion in gaming, and Music, I literally listen to all genre's of music, yet when I listen to it around others, they are always like "TURN THAT SHIT OFF!" It makes me angry, or they do the exact opposite saying "Turn that up!".
How about in the gaming area, more specifically towards video game consoles, yeah I use't to go around bashing consoles for being worse than pc gaming, I got over that, and started playing all the consoles, and I thought "Hey this isn't to bad, and this console has some pretty awesome games I won't find on the PC nor the [insert other console name here]!" Yet people still tend to bash the other saying that it is worse then [insert console name here].
I just don't understand why one person has to think they have the bigger dick then the other...

Another thing I wanted to bring up is, how come the average person always has to have some stereotypical remark to another country. I'll give you an example: One time I was at school, and these assholes where making fun of Japan, and this isn't in some sort of joking manor either they actually believed this. They where talking about how all of Japan's music is utter shit compared to America, and the other guy was like yeah fuck duh J-pop shit mayne, we got ourself here some awesome bands like slipknot.
I have come across plenty of artists from japan, that aren't J-Pop, that are superior to that shit stain slipknot who produces music with little to no heart put into their songs, one of these bands are named Galneryus, and they produce better quality metal then Slipknot does.

Well, you complain about people complaing about things they don't like and then complain about things you don't like. Now, I'm not the biggest Slipknot fan ever (although I do like them a bit), but I can tell you that there's really no reason why Slipknot are 'emotionless'. It's just a standard response to insult something deemed popular and mainstream. It's fair to say that they've not really pushed the boat out musically since Iowa, but there's still emotion in the music. By calling it all emotionless you're almost as bad as them.

Similarly, you complain about people asking you to turn your music of. Why should they put up with something they dislike because you want to listen to it? You're complaining at people forcing their tastes on you, and you seem to think that you should be able to do the same to them.

Agreed I somtimes enjoy slipknot sure it's not very complexe their musicle talent is limited but somtimes thats what you want. I'm definatly one of those people you are talking about but i would like to say that a lot of people including me don't like somthing because they were open minded and got shat on. I used to listen to mainstream music but then i found alternative and i realised that all this time i've been shat apon. I know it takes a special kind of person to like my kind of music but i now hate mainstream. A lot of people have tried both sides but just like one side because it's better. We are intitled to an opinion and if we are strong about that opinion then that ok. No one is going to change for hundreds of years now people have been biast about things look at the history of science for example every one was biast about it every on went along with the catholic church. People aren't going to change and i like it how it is. I like being able to go up to some one playing rap music and vent all my anger in a few words saying 'turn that shit off' and i can understand if some one tells me to turn my alternate shit off. Get over it. How often does it actually happen? I think one of the reasons we have the freinds we do is because they have relativly the same opinion that we do. I sit in a group full of gamers and nerds. If your in a group full of jocks then i think you found the wronge freinds.

I use't to listen to slipknot, but what I meant from them being emotionless is, they are kinda like Avenged Sevenfold, they just make music to make money, I'm not sure if they do anymore, but I prefer bands who provoke messages, or bring the song straight from the hearty, but as i see this thread has provoked something that i didn't intend considering it came off the top of my head

I also like bands that are trying t convey somthing awesome but somtimes you want to listen to some mindless generic sellout metal because your feeling a bit stupid that day and well bands like slipknot are perfect for that occasion. Somtimes people feel stupid every day so they listen to a lot of slipknot. To quote yatzee "It's just pure mindless fun, like wrestling an excitable dog in a paddling pool full of dissembodied breast". Somtimes you want that other times you want to listen to more intelligent music that fine too. I listen to a lot of alternative and protest music but somtimes it's nice to go back to emo music or generic music. People are always one sided about things i don't really understand it either but i deal with and i move on.

Just to clear something up, are you a Japanophile? Because Japan isn't the most amazing place ever, it's a country just like everywhere else. Fine if you like their stuff, but it sounds like you were pushing your opinions on others. This is why the term "otaku" has such negative connotations in Japan.

People really don't like to step outside of their comfort zone, at least not too far. If you were to introduce a primarily metal listener to, say, something like Camaralldensen, he would have the exact same expression that I did when I first heard of Camaralldensen - "What the FUCK is this?" It's because we don't like strange things. Once we get used to them, we sometimes start to like them, but a lot of people are more interested in making more friends, or getting better grades, or something along those lines to bother trying to get used to something else.

I've got a challenge for you: everything you hate, from Slipknot to whatever, I want you to try, for one day, to only listen to strange music, only watch TV shows and movies far removed from what you usually watch, and generally do everything differently especially entertaiment. You might not like it because it isn't what you're used to. Now, a few weeks of this and you might not even want to switch back, or you might come running back to your Galneryus and Sukima Switch and Yui and whatever other J-pop and J-Metal or whatever you know of.

Already happened, when all I wanted to say period is that I'm sick of people being bigots over what they prefer, and what others don't, no way was I intending to come off as a hypocrite, nor as a bigot, considering, their is a difference in what I was saying about music when I was generally speaking about genre's of music not BANDS, i understand why people have different opinions on bands, and if a person doesn't like a specific genre, why do they have to bring it to such an uproar? This is what makes you a hypocrite. If we infer that you mean that one person has to belittle another and their tastes, then you're a hypocrite. You went an insulted Slipknot, belittling the people who like their music, so that you could hype up Galneryus a little bit more. Just don't get on your high horse about this sort of stuff, we all do it.

Because (most) people are insecure and have to justify their existance, their choices, themselves and even their purchases, and how better to do that than to make your purchase seem superior (at least to yourself) incomparison to someone elses.
All you can do is be happy and try to bring others out of their insecurities.

While i have no clue what you talkin bout I think you'll find this is subjective as different people have different tastes. Remember that just because you made the right choice, purchase or listen to the better music doesn't mean you should be any more insecure about it than those who dont.
