I'm fairly sure there is literally no way to convince them they are wrong. There are 2 options: Either they truly believe this, in which case your not going to convince them they are wrong. OR, they are trolls, who want people to hit them so they can sue, in which case they know they are wrong, and they bank on that fact to make sure they get hit and can sue.believer258 said:

OT: I just went to the WBC website, because I wanted to know why on earth they would picket a nine year olds funeral. Turns out it's because her parents are Catholic, and as such the girl was tainted, and it's good she was killed, because otherwise her life would have been a sinful one.
So... These guys are idiots. And the bikers are awesome.
(Also, people like the WBC are exactly the people who make me think that we shouldn't have such freedom of speech)

Does anyone else kinda think CULT in big bold letters whenever it comes to the WBC? I just feel like the crap that Fred Phelps and all its officials feed the patrons is that fanatical stuff that people like Charles Mason would talk about. It consumes them, they believe that no one else could possible be right and anyone who doesn't believe them will be killed by God.
Ican't help but feel if I was local police, I'd stay away, and if some terrible...accident were to happen to the protesters, well, it was a roaming gang of Hell's Angels with no fixed abode, we tried tracking em down, but we don't have anything to go on.
In saying that, I do hope Fred Phelps himself shows up. He already looks like he'd snap in two in a high wind. I think one good smack in the head and he'd crumble into dust like a vampire in the sun.
As people have said, they're not religious, they've simply learned a few bible passages to cover the concept of their money grabbing scam, if it's not they're clearly insane and someone needs to lock them away for their own good. Preferably somewhere without that nasty godless 'air' stuff getting in.
Not the kids of course, with any luck the preteens can be unbrainwashed from the hateful shit they've been taught.
I think by now, if I was homeless and I'd lost everything, I'd go attack em and see how many I could take out.

Lets see how much they can sue them for. So long as the homeless folks stick to their story that they read about them in a discared newspaper and decided to do something for the common good, the WBC are fucked. What's more the guys would be more of a hero than Ted Williams

Steady on there homes- the WBC is only 50 people, mostly from the same family. A poor chap from the BBC went to stay with them to find out what the hell is going on with them a couple of years ago, and found they're just a dysfunctional hate group/lawsuit bait (as other posters said part of their plan is to sue people who attack them during their... attacks) who use a couple of out-of-context verses from the OT as an excuse. Said reporter asked some of the younger members if they would hold the same views if they didn't have those Bible verses to hide behind, and they said yes.MercurySteam said:
I know you know this and I suspect you may be trolling, but just in case- they are not Christians because they don't follow any of the teachings of Christ. At all. They're just a hate group. They don't represent any facet of Christianity and they sure as fuck don't speak for me and my family. The Church of England supports gay marriage and I have no doubt other denominations will see sense and join them in the coming years.
Also, some bikers are Christians- the two aren't mutually exclusive. Like the Reverend Lionel Fanthorpe. Like the guy that put in our double glazing. I'm sure if he lived in the States he'd be right out there with the Angels and the Patriots. Good luck to them I say.

Though enormous stress should be put on getting their children out of harms way, since I'm almost entirely sure that WBCult would use them as shields.
Well, they probably do it to have community support. People aren't going to rat on them if they give their kids gifts, or build schools, etc. And then maybe they kids grow up to become Yakuza. Thats the problem exactly, they want people to try and stop them, thats why they do it. As soon as anyone lays a finger on them they sue the shit out of them.
