Basically, what I'm saying is, no matter what Westboro did in the past, at least their victims did something to deserve it, in their deluded minds. She was nine. There were no sins she committed. I doubt she even hit puberty, so you can't legitimately call her a lesbian.

I'd understand if they protested the congresswoman's funeral, but the little girl's? Westboro has hit a new low, which considering who we're talking about, is one hell of an accomplishment.
WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU. These people protested Matthew Shepard's funeral, they protest 9/11 victims, there has never been one event who's victim's life justified this treatment. Even if the victim wasn't a great person isn't it their god's duty to judge. why infringe on the mourning of others, I'm pretty sure that is nowhere in the bible

Yay for them! (The Bikers)

What exactly do they plan to do, though? Break the law? Without breaking the law, all they could do is protest back. If this turns violent, it won't go well for either group.

Unfortunately, nobody seems to realize that what these people don't need is a punch in the nose, it's just what we'd all like to give them. They need somebody to explain to them why this is wrong. The only one that needs one hell of a beatdown is their leader, the one that's gotten them all to think this way, their preacher.
Calmly talking with them is neither something that lasts long, nor anything that produces a productive result. They are not here for religious discourse, they are not here to make a point even, they are here to feed off the negative feedback they get from these kinds of protests; it makes them feel affirmed in their own ludicrous beliefs. Persecution complexes are strong here. And what very few people take a moment to think about, is that sometimes there is a reason one is persecuted.

The Hell's Angels won't have to do anything but sit there and stare at them. Most of the WBC people don't have the guts to take it to the next step.

I'd be tempted to carry a gun over to the WBC and offer it to them handle first, saying that 'I'm a veteran and who wants to be the hand of God that will smite me for it?' They'd probably ignore me...or be horrified that one of their kids wouldn't hesitate to come forward. And if the kid shot me, I'd hope they'd be subject to what that one Mormon group was, which was seizure of all the kids.

I probably wouldn't do it, but I'd be tempted to.

why the fuck would the WBC want to picket the funeral of a 9 years old?

even for a religious fanatic it don't make no sense

I know I've been ninja'd, but I'm going to say it anyway. It's all a huge scam. It's not about gays or anything else they claim to hate, it's all about money. The truth is they know exactly how far they can go and still be within the protection of the law and they will go right to that edge with their protests and picketing in hopes of provoking someone into physically retaliating. And as soon as someone does, they sue the pants off of 'em.

Gotta applaud those bikers though.

So um... Go Bikers? What do you Escapists think of this situation?

[sub]Edit: To clarify when I said gangs and criminals I was referring to The Hells Angels, not the Patriot Guard Riders. (The Patriots are a collection of old timers and bike fanatics who like well... Bikes.... And America...)[/sub]
What do I think!? I think this is awesome!!!!! Someone needs to put those hypocritical bastards in their place! This is a hopeful event indeed.

GO BIKERS!!!

Leader without followers is just a lunatic demanding attention.

GOD HATES JEWS

...wait. That last one makes no sense. Christianity was founded by a Jew. So, therefore, the church is saying God hates Jesus. And they're a christian church, theoretically. So, they're saying that God hates Jesus, and by extension, the people who worship Jesus, and by extension, THEM.
Yes it does. Jesus was killed by jewish people, and betrayed by a Jew as well. Christianity didnt start till after he died, because he did not preach people to worship his name or his father in his name. So he was either killed (geographically speaking of course), but a Jew or a Muslim (maybe. not sure if that was before Christianity, and if it wasnt, I apologize, nor do I blame anyone for his death). People think that Jesus was a Christian, and that people that followed him while he alive where Christians. Thats why its hard to be Christian, especially when they read the Old Testament in church.
No... it really doesn't. Jesus's death was a requirement in Christian theology for the forgiveness that we have.

I am a biker, how many of you are? I'm gonna go ahead and assume very few if any, don't pretend you know anything about us. Thugs and criminals? Yes. Doctors, charity workers, carers, soldiers? Yes. It takes all sorts

My club is supporting the Derian house charity (all profits from rock nights, raffles and donations). I have been to many charity events organised and attended by bikers, we do more for the community than most. Yet people treat me like I'm scum.
We enjoy riding our bikes, going to rallys and just having fun. Why do people assume we are thugs? Sure, wind us up and we'll react. Who wouldn't? (Except that pacifist from earlier).

All that nonsense 'you have to murder someone to be a member' really gets on my nerves because it shows such ignorance.

Anyway, rant over.

Now, the WBC are pathetic attention seeking morons with a collective IQ roughly equal to that of a damp sponge. I believe they'll fade back into obscurity in a little while, but for now we'll just have to put up with their whiny (if well publicised) attempts to get noticed.

First time I've heard of the Angels riding out to stop them. I've seen other groups at funerals before, been to one that had vet gang there. I've heard it turn violent before against the WBC and you know what, the cops did jack shit because they agreed with the bikers. No one could say which biker punched the guy so the cops warned them to back off but didn't arrest them. I love the PD sometimes.

I'm still waiting for someone to blow up WBC's "church" and hear what they have to say about it, probably that they weren't gay bashing enough and it was God's punishment, couldn't arrest the culprit either, God made him do it.

Why, oh why can't a crazy shooter take out members of the WBC? Why? I guess they wouldn't be crazy if they picked their targets based on logic and reason now would they?

I heard AZ may be on the verge of passing a law that would make it illegal to picket funerals. Bipartisan, even. Now, that would be epic if the entire US passed just such a law.

What a lot of people don't understand about the WBC is that it has nothing to do with beliefs. I doubt Phelps actually hates gays as much as his websites would indicate. The WBC is the way it is purely to make money. They basically troll in the real world, where instead of getting angry replies, they get a punch to the face. They then sue their attackers for millions of dollars. This little girl is a target because protesting her funeral will create massive amounts of publicity and anger, which plays into their hands. It has nothing to do with God punishing the USA, that's just a cover story that most of us fall for. When they have decent, non-violent people calling for them to be killed, they've done their job.

Now, does this mean I don't want them to be killed? No. Hell, if I had the means, I'd do it myself. But these people are not religious fanatics, they're just consumed by greed. They protest funerals for the same reason Bernard Madoff ran a ponzi scheme; they want money, and they don't care who they have to screw to get it. Those of you commenting on how absurd their beliefs are, you might as well be using reason against an internet troll. The beliefs don't matter, they're just a means to an end.

WBC isn't allowed to protest. I heard on the news that they passed a law saying that if they even try to protest at any of the funerals, they will get put in jail. So they can't do shit about it. WBC is gonna lose the stranglehold they have on their little protests.
