I blame Hollywood for this mess.
As the US Sopa bill was a cluster fuck of stupidity.

If you are Canadian the ball is in your court, time for you us to act.

As to all the Americans who said "I going to move to Canada if Sopa Passes",
HAAA! No so smart now are you!

I signed that letter, made my own one, and fired it off last night.

Some of the shit in this bill is beyond retarded. Ripping songs from a CD you BOUGHT in order to put it on an iPod would be illegal. Keeping course notes/material from school longer than 30 days would be illegal. Using a PVR to record stuff not specifically flagged for download would be illegal. Punishments range to up to 1 million bucks in fines, and/or 5 years in jail.

That. Is. Retarded.

Oh, and the Conservatives seem to be ignoring all the amendments and arguments made by the BDP and liberal parties. For all intents and purposes, they put this bill out there, and then put their hands on their ears and went "LALALALALA I can't hear you!" to the opposition parties, and Canadians in general.

Oh, and they're ramming this bill through as fast as possible. At least SOPA was out there for a few months. THIS freakin bill is being voted on in 13 days.

This is unacceptable. Canada is a democracy. We are supposed to talk things out and compromise. But the way things are going (the ruling party ignoring the people and ramming shit through as fast as they can), I'm beginning to worry that we're 3 steps away from a dictatorship or something. :s

So I sent a letter to my representative (who IS fighting this bill), and all related ministers, including Harper. And I'm going to a protest this Friday. I'm not going to let this pass. Not if I can help it.

Time to go send some letters to my so-called representative.
Well, we are talking about a government that spent millions of taxpayer dollars on consultants to tell them how to stop wasting money.

Stephen Harper is fairly incompetent at getting anything passed. C-15 has been around since 2006 and it's never going to be passed, mostly because Harper is a buffoon. Thankful in this case, C-15 is more outrageous than SOPA has been alleged to be.

Reminds me, the hearing for Harper vs medicinal marijuana/potential legalization of recreational marijuana is only 1 month away, can't wait.
Well, now that he has a majority, Harper is ramming all the stuff he couldn't get passed before down our throats.

Not helping matters is the fact that the average conservative MP has a spine made of Jell-o.

I sent one too, i just wish someone will keep a level head in all that.

Like that usage-based billing mess a few months back, at the 11th hour someone (Harper!) stepped in and squashed it, not saying i admire the guy but he's not 100% corporate whore, conservative buffoon as a lot of people say...

God damnit now it's my turn to pick up the ball I guess. I seriously hope we can kick this thing for good. I highly doubt that though, I wouldn't be surprised if the tactic was to keep them coming until everyone adopts the "It hasn't worked the last ten times, it won't work this time let's just sit this one out." And then it passes because there isn't any opposition. Plus it would be seriously swell if Canada quit being America's little *****.

Unfortunately this will pass.
Harper's new majority government is akin to an autocracy. His underlings are too scared to oppose him and he's been systematically filling the senate with people loyal to him.

He just needs to snap his fingers and this will be law.
It doesn't mean you shouldn't contact your MP, it just means

1) If your MP is conservative, they're a spinless twat who is going to bow to the whatever harper dictates.

2) They aren't conservative, so they'll be against this anyways... yet it won't matter, as they're in the minority.

The joys of a multi-party system, eh? Grinds my gears that the majority of Canadians don't want them in power, yet they have a majority...

I know, and this sucks. It's why I've ALWAYS hated majority governments.

Honestly, if Harper keeps doing this, I'm worried that we're going to see rioting in the streets.

I mean, It's like we're three steps away from a dictatorship.

Well I've made it abundantly clear to my MP that support for this bill will earn their opposition a lifetime of my votes.

I think I heard about this on CNN this morning, that the entire opposition is against this bill. However, it's a majority gov so the Conservatives can do whatever they freaking want. Stupid fucking Albertans voting Conservative. Fuckers. (PS I'm Albertan. Voted NDP).

Oh god, I had almost forgotten about that....almost being the keyword. $90,000 a-day for advice on saving money.....Silly Conservative Government.

All I've got to say is I hope to god that the conservatives get their asses kicked in the next election (which can't come soon enough)!

Pick a rep, preferably your own along with Harper, and let them know how you feel. That site will send a standardized email to them. Alter it as you see fit.
Sending a standardized email will go right to their standardized junkmail/trash folder.

If you actually care, right a REAL letter and MAIL or COURIER it to them. Those are what gets noticed because they take actually effort and random people from outside the country can't just click on a link.
Actually it didn't go into the trash, i got a response... from the NDP pretty much saying "vote for us, we don't like this bill"

I guess they're gathering votes to squash the conservatives next election.
