It was already predicted that bills like SOPA would spread to other countries like herpes. I wouldn't be surprised if several more bills like this pop up elsewhere during the next couple of years.

I regret my sensationalism before. I spent the morning reading Bill C-11 and it's pretty good in general. I'm not a lawyer though.

1) There is NO WEBSITE FILTERING OR BLOCKING. That's the most important thing to me.

2) The BAD part of the bill really centers around digital locks. It has a bunch of great stuff about copying things for personal use. Bought a DVD and want to put it on your PC to stream it to your TV? Sure, perfectly legal for personal use.

The problem is as soon as a digital lock comes into play, you're not allowed to circumvent it in any way. Did the online activation server for a game shutdown? You can't crack it to play it, that's illegal.

o_O wow, the whole world is trying to kill the internet. Why can't they just let us be T_T
It's only the few in charge of the countries... 99% of us don't want to censor it thus why it shouldn't happen!

As if SOPA wasn't bad enough... does the government hate the internet or something?
Yes, it lets people know the truth and provides access to any information in the world and this challenges their powers of authority...
