Yeah...take a look around this site. Given the chance,95% of this site would have lynched O'Rielly LONG ago so that he was never here to even make a defense for a gay person. Quite honestly, I find this thread incredibly amusing. "Bill O'Rielly is the devil but he agrees with something I do so I guess I'll be his friend for now until he disagrees with me again and then I want his tongue cut out!". That's the general attitude of the escapist community whether they want to admit it or not. There's really nothing but the utmost vitriol towards anything Fox News and anyone that says otherwise is lying. It's not about law and order; it's about politics and opinions and who thinks they have the moral high ground.
You act like this is somehow unique to Fox News. This site does that on pretty much every issue or person who has ever dared disagree with them.

Probably shouldn't even limit it to this site.

Thing is guys, O'Reilly's argument was fundamentally flawed becasue his viewership won't allow him to say being gay is fine. He was saying it's wrong for 1 millon moms to demand ellen be fired as spokesperson because of being gay. But that's fine, they can demand what they want. What is wrong is the reason they demanded it, i.e ellen is gay. That's a fucking retarded argument. That's what he should be arguing about, instead he has to say some other stuff that's sort of morally right, but a lot more wooly than just saying "You're all idiots." to one million moms.

Whatever, it's still better than him just agreeing with them, so WOOOOOO I guess.

He wasn't defending Ellen DeGeneres the gay woman, he was defending JCPenney's right to use her as a spokesperson.
He's still not supporting gay rights or gays in general, he just says that a business can do what the heck it wants.
So it's nice to see that Billo is still being a dick even though he's doing something right.

What? Really? A Republican being reasonable and defending a homosexual for being homosexual? Is this Bizarro world?

Does this make up for all his past instances of hypocrisy?

He's not defending homosexuals, he's defending the business JCPenney.

As much as I despise ol' Bill... I agree with him on this.

On the other hand, he is still using some really nasty rhetorics.

Bill O'Reilly is quite the interesting man. I rather respect his hard interviewing style and no BS attitude. Do I agree with everything he says? Nope, but he is certainly a man capable of making very rational and intelligent arguments. Here is an example of that.

Fox brings on a bunch of blundering idiots to argue sides of arguments to try to make the news "entertaining" (though I prefer my news comedy to meant to be actual comedy, not unintentional), but a fair amount of their anchors are pretty cool. They'd be a lot better if they didn't give idiots a place to talk, and they do. There are too many guests like that lady in the video on the programs.

... My parents watch Fox all the time.
Eh... Sean Hannity is the only conservative talking head I give the time of day to. He has less moments that make me shut my car radio off in disgust.

I know that was meant sarcastically, but by saying, despite disapproving of homosexuality himself, that JCPenney should not fire her because of her lifestyle (and therefore that its wrong to fire someone for being homosexual), is he not also by extension defending her too?

Obviously he shouldn't defend her on a personal level, since "I know Ellen, and shes just fine so she shouldn't get canned" isn't nearly as convincing an argument as "I dont know the woman, but despite how I feel about her lifestyle, its wrong to fire her this way".

(Captcha was "Cyclades nerdfest"...is this a real event?)
I did not mean that sarcastically, and I don't believe it to mean he is defending her.
He's a big believer in "Corporations are the best thing ever, and they deserve to have their rights" so when he defends JCPenney's actions, he's simply defending corporate interests and corporate rights.

[sub]Also, as an aside, you made a mistake in your last post, you have one to many zeros in the number of moms.[/sub]

He's not defending homosexuals, he's defending the business JCPenney.
Though that's true, he's also defending her right to earn the salary that JC Penny is paying her and that her sexuality shouldn't be a factor. The woman is trying to argue that she should be fired because it's supposedly an attempt to mainstream a behaviour that the Christian fundamentalists don't agree with, to which he says it shouldn't matter and that it goes against the American rights.
