Bill wasn't defending Ellen or gay people, he was browbeating someone for a boycott. Something that is supposed to be the right of the consumers.
No, he was fine with them boycotting. He says it's well within their rights to stop shopping at JC Penney's.

What he wasn't fine with was their demanding that she be fired.

What? Really? A Republican being reasonable and defending a homosexual for being homosexual? Is this Bizarro world?

Does this make up for all his past instances of hypocrisy?
He's not defending homosexuals, he's defending the business JCPenney.
Though that's true, he's also defending her right to earn the salary that JC Penny is paying her and that her sexuality shouldn't be a factor. The woman is trying to argue that she should be fired because it's supposedly an attempt to mainstream a behaviour that the Christian fundamentalists don't agree with, to which he says it shouldn't matter and that it goes against the American rights.
I'd agree with that to a certain extent, though in the end he just ignores her for the most part and makes the whole thing about how it's the Company's right to do what they want and that none can interfere with official company business.
Though that really isn't the point is it? The point is that I'm shopping there from now on whenever I need new work shirts, and that's what matters.

we dont hate homosexuals, just the idea behind homosexual marriage...and eve then most dont care.
I don't understand why people get so worked up over the idea of marriage in the first place. The original reason that marriage exists is financial. It was a means for two families to share resources or land by arranging their children to procreate. It originally had no religious ties. Even today there are still cultures that arranged marriages for money. The idea that someone would be against two people getting married at all is ridiculous.

I know that was meant sarcastically, but by saying, despite disapproving of homosexuality himself, that JCPenny should not fire her because of her lifestyle (and therefore that its wrong to fire someone for being homosexual), is he not also by extension defending her too?

Obviously he shouldnt defend her on a personal level, since "I know Ellen, and shes just fine so she shouldnt get canned" isnt nearly as convincing an argument as "I dont know the woman, but despite how I feel about her lifestyle, its wrong to fire her this way".

(Captcha was "Cyclades nerdfest"...is this a real event?)
That's exactly what I got out of the clip. Yes, he's defending the right of JC Penny to hire whoever they want. But there is a part where he says [Paraphrased] It's wrong to demand JC Penny to fire her because of her lifestyle. To me, that translates as "You can't fire someone for being gay".

hence why most of us dont care.

Bill O'Reilly is far more pro-capitalist then he is anti-gay, that's what is happening here. If you have a problem with the advertising then you avoid the store, and if enough people do it the change the campaign Ellen was a spokesperson for cover girl and nothing in those ads had anything to do with the fact that she is a lesbian, children will still get to keep their ignorance if you don't talk about it.

Bill O'Reilly's not the devil, guys. He's stubborn as hell, kind of a jerk, and is a *GASP* conservative, but he's a rational, intelligent human being. He's probably the most rational person on Fox News.

This doesn't surprise me too much, since he's never been one to advocate irrational hatred of a minority, but good for him!

It amazes me that people actually exist that have such a view on life, and specifically, other people's lives.

What gender Ellen DeGeneres shares the bed with is her own damn choice, same goes for any other person. I am actually, EXTREMELY, pissed off that America still leads by bad example.

It's discrimination and ignorance at it's finest. This is the 21st century, people, GET OVER YOUR MEDIEVAL FEARS!
Why, when ever someone in America does something stupid, is it immediately blamed on America as a whole? Damn, that gets annoying. Other countries fucking stone gay people, and when one stupid group complains about a gay person (and is immediately criticized by one of the most conservative people here) America is the bad example.

Why do I get the feeling that "One Million Moms" probably isn't an accurate name? I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out they were actually "7 Religious Fanatics" or something like that.

I don't get what the surprise is... most Republicans and/or Christians (I'm talking real Christians, not those Westboro Baptist heretics) don't care who is or isn't gay, we just don't want the government interfering with our religion...

Everyone's panic is delicious.

There's virtually no one who won't agree with you at least once, but apparently, people on the internet don't understand such a bizarre concept.

Interfering with your religion? LOL. Yeah, it's not doing that at all anyway. If anything it'd be the other way around. See: Gay marriage.
I don't get it. More militant atheists stand up and declare from the rooftops that marriage is a purely religious institution, but when it comes to gay marriage, they insist that it be put into law.

You can't have your cake and eat it.

(If you don't regard marriage as a religious institution, then please ignore this post.)

Well... it looks like I now have a problem with over a million new people that I have just heard of... Ellen DeGeneres is awesome, and I don't know who Bill OReilly (I hate fox news too) is, but fair play to him! People need to stand up to the 'doing good' groups that are more destructive than constructive!

He wasn't defending Ellen DeGeneres the gay woman, he was defending JCPenney's right to use her as a spokesperson.
He's still not supporting gay rights or gays in general, he just says that a business can do what the heck it wants.
So it's nice to see that Billo is still being a dick even though he's doing something right.
I know that was meant sarcastically, but by saying, despite disapproving of homosexuality himself, that JCPenney should not fire her because of her lifestyle (and therefore that its wrong to fire someone for being homosexual), is he not also by extension defending her too?

I did not mean that sarcastically, and I don't believe it to mean he is defending her.
He's a big believer in "Corporations are the best thing ever, and they deserve to have their rights" so when he defends JCPenney's actions, he's simply defending corporate interests and corporate rights.

[sub]Also, as an aside, you made a mistake in your last post, you have one to many zeros in the number of moms.[/sub]
Would he also not then believe corporations should have the right to fire anyone they like for any reason?

Also, is it only 4000 moms then? That's nothing in a country the size of the USA...
Well sure, but that isn't the point of the story, the story being that a group of people are demanding something of a company based solely on their beliefs, and Billo says that is wrong. And no, you wrote four hundred thousand, it's forty thousand. Though I believe that more than a few are doubles and that I know of at least ten in said group who are there to argue against these enraged females.
