I played the demo and was pleasantly surprised.

I could see it getting boring possibly, but the mechanics of the game feel really fresh as does the overall atmosphere. It has a feeling like something off of an arcade shelf from 10-15 years ago. Anyone else play the demo and get a bit pulled in? At a minimum you have to recognize that its not a Gears of War rip off in any real way.

Graphically it isn't super impressive but it isn't bad either, the game in presentation is really nice, very clean which wins in my book.I wished the controls were a little looser but nothing I couldn't get use to. What surprised me is how fast enemies move in this game, they don't stand still for very long to be picked off which I love. Wish I could see more of the cast but so far I like them, especially the french robot, a lot less man wangst that I grew so accustomed with gears.

Will probably buy after I hear from reviews(for things that weren't shown in the demo) but wins some ground in my book.

It was alright. Very familiar, but not unpleasant. I wouldn't buy it based on the demo, not with Syndicate & Mass Effect 3 coming up.

I found it oodles more fun than Gears of War, mostly in part due to the hilariously charming French robot accomplice, Cain. Oh and the fact that blowing enemies heads off actually converts them to YOUR side, and they open fire on their former teammates like heavily armed headless chickens.

I'll probably get it on launch on account of me not giving a shit about Mass Effect 3.

It was Mass Effect with robots instead of aliens.

How does that feel fresh to you?

In broad strokes yes they shoot guns at enemies from behind cover... thats about it. No spaceships, no blue aliens, no powers, no RPG elements, highly different art direction and plenty of other things. I do get the binary domain comparison, but Mass effect with robots is hardly a fair comparison. I know it has become cool to crap on Halo, Modern Warfare, and Gears, and i havent played the newer versions of each for the same reasons, but lets not throw every shooter out that has a cover based mechanic while reveling in our nerdy rage.

I dont know how old you are but the game give me the feel of time crisis from back before most of you could lift a controller.

It looked like it was gonna be 100% linear till it opened up right at the end. The conversation system seems kinda pointless sometimes cos when a team member makes a suggestion the answer is always gonna be yes cos they don't actually make any bad suggestions, so they might as well just do it anyway. I lost quite a bit of trust due to friendly fire as my team mates kept running in front of me and having such a huge crosshair. The trailer looked awesome but now it just seems kinda meh.
