It also had very little in the way of promotion, so no-one knew it existed, certainly when compared to the big shooter franchises.

Personally, I thought it was pretty decent. It was made by the same guys that do the Yakuza series, so it's very much an eastern take on a western style, if you get the idea. There were some good stabs at new mechanics, with disintigrating robots and the trust levels between your team. Yeah, the dialogue was cheesy, and if you go in expecting an Oscar winning tour de force, you're going to be disappointed. But if you pick it up for a few quid, it's not bad.

It's got solid gameplay, great characters, a story reminiscent of Isaac Asimov... and yet no one seems to even be aware of its existence.
Because You're in my way sir! You're in my way sir! You're in my way sir! You're in my way sir! You're in my way sir! You're in my way sir! You're in my way sir! You're in my way sir! You're in my way sir! You're in my way sir! You're in my way sir! You're in my way sir!

I played it, the robots made for a nice and varied set of enemies.

That's about the only thing I can think of that was worth recommending about the game. It's ok, but if you've already got a Gears game there's no reason to play it.

Also, there was no co-op option for the campaign, the multi player was deadly dull death match, ctf and horde modes and lastly the bloody voices. It takes a special kind of special to make Gear of War 3 sound like high drama.

If it had had co-op mode (because what's not to like about fighting giant robots in pairs, or fours?) it would have been a lot better, especially when your squad AI can be so random. It could have done with being a bit less ruthlessly stereotypical with the characters too, I VILL ADDRESS ZAT LATER SIR!

I really liked the game back when I rented it, and I'll probably pick it up used somewhere down the line. The first two hours or so were quite painful, but then the game surprised me with a drastic improvement in writing quality and making me care about the characters. I'd certainly recommend Binary Domain to fellow shooter fans.
Also, French robot for the ultimate win.

I for one really enjoyed the game, but I agree that the first hour or so in the campaign is dull, but got very interesting after that and really sparked my interest in the story. The trust mechanic is a nice addition, especially on higher difficulties. Sadly the game was overlooked at the time of release, and is IMHO underrated.

Better than Gears 3, better than Mass Effect 3. One of the best games this year, could go into more detail but I feel pretty dead

Binary Domain was highly fun for me. Sure, plot-story-voice acting wise, it was Japanese b grade but the combat was fantastic. I loved the way the robots fell apart and reacted differently depending where they got shot. It helped give weight to the impact of the bullets. Very enjoyable and definitely worth a bargain bin pick up.

Its a good game and certainly has some strong points, but its nothing all THAT impresive either.

Also... TOO SHORT! and too easy too. For the most of the part.

I found the game play decent at best, it was a tad boring. Not to mention your companion or whatever you want to call it... man he was annoying. Now with the huge amount of games I have that I've bought and not touched combined with my lack of time to play them (which seems to decrease every week), I don't have time for games that are only "meh".

It wasn't a great game, though it was enjoyable to play through.

The bosses were much more enjoyable than most I've seen during this console generation, so it had that going for it, but it wasn't by any stretch of the imagination a great game.

Cain was awesome, though I felt that Shingo was totally unnecessary.

i played an liked the game despite how terrible it handles on PC but i stopped during that horrible section where you control a mech and can't take cover or regen health and at that point the controls made it unplayable.
i also disliked that the upgrade system made the assault rifle the only viable choice, i dislike assault rifles.

I liked this game, its a guilty pleasure.

That enemies were robots certainly wasnt a deal breaker with me, i love blowing apart their limbs and wearing down their outer layers and stuff :)

Story was cheesy and fun, i honestly enjoyed this more then any gears game (save for lack of coop!).

I remember enjoying the 360 demo but sucking at console shooters, so I tried the PC demo only to find it was fucking abysmal on PC.
Been a while since then, might pick it up. Not holding out much hope for it to be good though,

ITs odd when games do that. You are followed by an AI partner all the way through and no co op? Bulletstorm did this too.
