Has anyone seen the new Microsoft marketing campaign in the style of Pepsi vs Coke?

Every time I try it, Google comes up as the winner...and all the tech sites seem to suggest the same, so i'm not sure how accurate Bing's assertion that "others picked Bing Web search results over Google, nearly 2 to 1 in blind comparison tests"

That said, its a good campaign if their engine IS better, which i'm not convinced it is...yet!

I once tested the accuracy of Bing vs Google search engines by plugging in the exact URL of my obscure website.
Google pulled my website up as the first link. Bing didn't pull it up at all.
Basically Bing suggested that I didn't know what I wanted, even though I typed in exactly what I wanted.

In short, it's not a good idea to have a search engine that makes the choices for you.
Bing is an insult to human intelligence.

Google wins.
Google always wins, and I'm still convinced Google will eventually rule the world.
You heard it here first folks.

Bing vs. Google. Whoever wins, we lose. There are better search engines out there, if you want real results.

Agreed, and I will welcome our new overlord with open arms.

Alright, I searched:
My username
My full name
My company name
My company acronym
My blog

Result: bing won 0 rounds *

I will assume it's because the Google one still uses its personalized search, but it's still an issue. The more specific/obscure, the less Bing will know it.

I just tried it by choosing random topics that I would search for and then truthfully selecting the results that seemed most accurate.

Google won every 5 rounds.

Yeah, I guess that answers that question...

Didn't Microsoft get into trouble recently because Bing was piggybacking Google's search results?

Yeah, I'll stick with Google thanks, played around with Big a bit, and while I don't see anything about it that I don't particularly like, it doesn't brig anything new to the table, so why would I change from a system I know works, for something that doesn't even change my experience, let alone try to improve it?

Google came out on top for me, seems like Microsofts just talking out of it's ass again, Bing will never beat Google.

Interesting tbh - 3 out of 5 of mine were Bing results.

Thing is I dont use Google over Bing due to accuracy, I use it due to layout. Google has always been more about simplicity and just giving me what I want. Bing on the otherhand just doesnt tweak me in terms of GUI.

Did a best of three tournament. After the first ten rounds, Google won by a landslide.

Sorry Bing. You sucked.

Google... twice.

First time I picked the names of the websites I visit and things I would try to download
Second time I tried to find myself on the internet... fuck I'm all over the place... on google :)

Seriously though I really wish my 15 year old self would of considered a few things before posting shit online.

Out of curiousity, does anyone actually use Bing? Like, for anything?

Also, AltaVista FTW!

Google 4 - Bing 1....Yea google's still better.
Also their statistic is shit! 'Nearly 2 to 1 chose Bing' surely that means anything from 50% up to 67%....that's not a very solid statistic!

Captcha: Carpe Diem...Yea that's not happening while im sat here comparing Google and Bing

I tested both using the Armageddon Expo as an example.

I searched 'Armageddon Expo' using the New Zealand version of both engines.

Google had the New Zealand Expo's website as the first result with the wikipedia article, twitter, facebook and ticket sellers appearing afterwards with two results about a past event.

Bings results start off the same with the New Zealand Expo's website as well, then go a little wonky with the Australian website, THREE links to Facebook, the wiki article and four articles on past events.

End result: Google results were concise and optimized with logical related searches at the bottom of the page.

armageddon expo forums
armageddon expo facebook
armageddon expo hamilton photos
armageddon expo 2013

Bings results were a little more haphazzard with facebook appearing multiple times. Its related searches were a little... off.

I don't often use Bing.

But when I have to, I use it to search for Google.
You sir win this thread.

OT: I don't even have to test this to know Google will win by a landslide.

This is hilarious based purely on the fact that it highlights how enormously inept Bing is compared to our Google overlords.
