Biological or technological modification

(Search bar approved, as far as I can tell). Also, I killed the whole "poll" thing because the system bugged :(

Here's an interesting question. Everyone always says "Oh, would you modify yourself or not?", but here's a different one: If you had the choice between augmenting yourself biologically, a la Splicing without all the insanity and such, and becoming a cyborg, which would you choose?

Personally, I would go the cyborg route. The technology would be much easier and safer to develop, and it can also be controlled in a reasonable way. You don't start mutating wildly when you use microchips, no?

Definately cyborg. Though I'd having a tough time picking between Ghost in the Shell type cybernetics, or the crazy awesome automail from Fullmetal Alchemist.

Though, either way you end up with something kick ass.

Hmm thats a tough question. Would augmenting myself biologically mean I can now shoot fire out of my hands? Cause that would be cool but I could see some of the issues in everyday use of that. Personally I think a cyborg or tech route would be safer, and also more helpful. Having a computer chip put into my head that lets me know everything (or at least search it on some data base) would be cool, so would be super fast or strong.

I'd definitely go technological.
If something goes wrong, I'd much rather the thing be removed by a wrench rather than a scalpel.
And I think it'd be more likely for me to be able to shoot rockets from a robotic hand rather than some mutated lump that my hand would turn into if it could actually fire rockets.

My BioShock fandom demands biological. My love of robots, cyborgs, and FMA demands technological. If I could do it without the risk of mutation or losing my F'ing mind, I might say biological. But otherwise I'd say cyborg. Even though I could get a virus or something, and then that'd be the same or worse as any biological cons.

Probably Biological. (Poll?) I would love to be a genetically perfect being. Would that mean I could shape shift?

They both do have risks, yes. Splicing has the risk of mutations running rampant and turning you into something horrible. Cyborgs run the risk of being hacked and manipulated/killed. So you could see the question as "would you rather run the risk of wild mutation or being a puppet for some crazy hacker?"

I would prefer being spliced, since it would feel more normal that huge fucking robot parts (zing!) sticking out of your body. I think the body would than adapt to the biological splice.

deffinetly biological. There's not way I would want to have a bunch of metal tubes in me.

Mmmm... Biological gene-splicing.

Write me up for centaurification, psionic conditioning, and a fucking acid-spine tail.

Why? Because how the fuck will you be able to telekinetically levitate things with a robot brain eh? Also, I could be a fucking centaur!

Not only that, but you could say that that bitchin' tail of yours is actually a part of you. Not some mechanical attatchment.

Did I mention chicks dig tails? And if they don't, a tail that can shoot acid at their face will change their minds.

To paraphrase the good ol' Smiling Bandit:

'No need to jump on the bioware bandwagon when you're riding the cyberware express, neh? You have to realise that bioware is no more or less dangerous than cyberware; Too much cyberware and your body geeks out-you die. Too much bioware and your body craps out-you still die. Personal augmentation isn't a simple matter of "cyberware good, bioware bad" it's more an issue of how far you want to push it. Or to rephrase "How do you wish to die" to which the intelligent answer is "I don't thank you very much"'

On that note however, I'd go with bioware because it can repair itself.

Bioware most definitely. It would be simple to fix your biology to radically improve every system in your body.

And bioware is the only thing that can make you immortal.

Even if you tech yourself out to general Grievous levels, your brain would still age and die. However, biologically speaking, its possible to live forever if you can train your cells to repair mitochondria and continue cell division continuously.

Cyborg provided there is nothing being messed around with my head. I work with computers enough to know I would hate being one.

Biological modifications don't allow for an arm cannon to replace your left arm anyway.

I like being full human, so I'll stay with just biological modifications.

Biological. I actually want to keep my limbs/organs as flesh and blood. Besides, some cool stuff comes from genetic engineering and controlled mutations...*cough* Zerg *cough*...

If I can grow and control snakes from my spine like in The Darkness, etc, etc, etc, I will go for Biological.

Otherwise Technological seems like it's the best one.

Yet now that I think about it, Biological cannot really be traced...

Hell this thread is more difficult than I though on making decisions...

How about something Cylon-like? Only... useful to overpower the earth instead of constantly trying to be human.
But some sort of techno-biology with improved stamina, strength and so on would definitely be sweet.

definitely bio. how could i refuse having the power to walk through a room and have it burst into flames... besides, how well is your rocket arms gonna work when im using telekinesis to throw them back at you.

Biological Purely for shapeshifting and telekinesis... although cybernetics would give me augmented reality, AKA real-life real-time HUD
