Square already did it in Front Mission 1.

Well ok it wasn't an arm but they did have your main character's fiancee get turned into your nemesis' targeting computer, which you later salvage and can use in your own Wanzers. And yes it comes off creepy there, only there's no post-discovery obsessing for the most part.

I might be wrong but I think Capcom is only publishing this game, it was made by some North American company.

I just looked into it now, yeah Capcom only published it. It was developed by GRIN who also developed Wanted:Weapons of Fate, and a few Tom Clancy games.

Soooooo that's it? Do they explain it at all? Is the 'wife' an AI that's implanted in his arm? Is it some kind of psychological trick they use to train these guys? Is the arm designed to pump pure heroin into his brain so he's just hallucinating? Is it possessed? Is he just insane?
