No it is different.

Winter Blast: Freeze enemies (Durr).
Winter Blast +: Freeze enemies in a solid block of ice that can be thrown with telekinesis.
Winter Blast ++: Charge to create a constant stream of ice to freeze foes and enemies killed when frozen drop a lockbox of loot.

I think that "Lockbox" thing applies to Winter Blast + as well, but I'm not sure.

It's addictive, but not the best. I have no reason why I have to play it, but I do kind of enjoy it. Not nearly as good as Call of Duty, but I love the different stuff it brings to the gaming community.

Multiplayer isn't perfect but I expected a lot worse. It's a lot of fun, although matchmaking can sometimes take an annoying amount of time. All the different characters are fun (My personal favorite was the housewife "Look at you, silly dilly!" ^_^) and it's a blast to play with friends. I've noticed, however, that the true key to defeating an enemy player is not always to outmatch them in skill but to take them by surprise. A well-planned ambush can be your best friend or your worst enemy.

It was also really interesting to get to know everyone's favorite style of play. Every person will favor certain plasmids or weapons over another. I took a keen liking to the grenade launcher and ending up becoming sort of like a kamikaze bomber XD I may die in a spectacular flash of fire and light but I'll make damn sure I take at least two people down with me!

The multiplayer was an utter lagfest up until some kind soul told me about the fact that Alt-Tabbing out and then back in again resolves most of the lag issues.

Now that's been sorted out, I rather enjoy it, it's quite an interesting change of pace to the usual selection of online FPS games. I seem to be favouring usage of the grenade launcher + electro bolt, because I'm a ***** who likes to zap people into place whilst I unload a couple grenades into their ass.
That, and firing one into the middle of three or four people fighting each other, seeing corpses fly and seeing that "+40" appear in the middle of your screen is satisfying. It's also satisfying to see your name leap up the leaderboard after something like that.

I played to rank 4. At lower levels, it's such an unfair piece of bullshit my mind is blown. The machine gun and shotgun blow, and some guy with a grenade launcher just comes and destroys me in 2 shots. And winter blast......god don't get me started. Oh yeah, and it's hard as balls to take down a big daddy.

I mostly just use Houdini and Winter Blast. Nothing is as funny as sneaking behind someone with it and then freezing them before unloading on them with the Machine Gun and Elephent Gun.
