OT: Im not that bothered about it, but the girlfriend wont shush up about bioshock 2, so I guess I know what to get her for valentines.

Its not made by Irrational so I'm not interested. It's like if someone other than Lucas made the Star Wars prequels.

Actually that may have been better, now that I think about it.

EH? As far as i'm aware it was made by by the same people. Just the multiplayer was made by a different team so the creators could focus on the single player... are you a bit confused?

I was extremely hyped for it since hearing of it's release, but recently my car broke down, as such I have been pre-occupied the last couple of weeks and it has drifted from my mind slightly.

Until today when I was shown this video in the Escapists 'Cult of Rapture' group by Ramthundar:
Now my excitement is back up to 10 again.

I considered buying the special edition of the game but decided against it as I just know that I would look at the art book once and then never look at it again. The music, while excellent only really works with the game itself (in my opinion) so I have no need for a CD/Vinyl of the soundtracks. The posters are bad, I would have liked them to have been of characters/Rapture, maybe in the style of the video posted above.

I'm currently going through Gamer withdrawl after the stellar Mass Effect 2, I need something to even me out after that epicness, and a action packed yet highly intelligent shooter seems just the right thing. I'm ecstatic for Bioshock 2, it may be dumbed down after ME 2, but I'm still hella pumped for this game.

im pumped. i caught glimpse of everything but trying not to research to much cuz then i get so excited and don't want to wait. I would get the special edition, but all i really want is the artbook.

Im getting it for my birthday...i won't get to play it until Feb 10th. thats 24 hours longer than i wanna wait, haha (gonna play thru Bioshock 1 again this weekend)

Well... I loved BioShock 1. It was a great game with a great story. Now the second one looks like it's focusing more on getting the mainstream idiots who would rather just have a run and gun shoot-em-up game than a decent story. The first game was a pretty intelligent game if you payed attention to the story at all, but the second one looks like it's forgetting what it's about. I'm excited for BioShock 2 and I hope that it stays along the same lines the first one did.

But yeah, I'm excited and I preordered the special edition.

I actually was really disappointed when I heard Bioshock 2 was going to have you playing a Big Daddy. I don't know, I just felt an overwhelming feeling of meh when they dropped that information, but I'm keen to hear from friends whether it's actually worth picking up.

For me though, what I'm really looking forward to is:

Dante's Inferno - I know, I know it's supposedly just like GoW, but I like new IPs, and if it plays as well as GoW I'll be very pleased (the demo has been quite nice so far).

AvP (PC) - I am looking forward to sitting with my lights off, at 2am, and peeing my pants as I play through as a Marine while the motion detector goes pfft-pfft-pffft-pffft-wiiing. Plus playing as an Alien is some of the most fun stealth gameplay I've ever had the pleasure of playing.

I'm not excited about Bioshock 2 as I doubt it will ever match its predecessor but the trailer that machines posted have gave me some hope for it.
On another note, it's coming out on the 9th?
I thought it wouldn't be out for a couple more months. o_0

I really liked the first one. Surprising.. I'm usually more of a fan of racing games. How different is it supposed to be? I'm hesitant about sequel games since they're never quite like the previous ones...

It was made by a new studio put together by 2K for the sole purpose of making a cash-in sequel. It includes some "former members" of the original design team but was not produced by Ken Levine, so they can go fuck themselves.

Maybe it will still be a good game but the story amounts to fan fiction as far as I'm concerned.

I'm not normally "That guy" but christ almighty that is one of the petiest reasons I've heard for not wanting a game. You've even admitted that it may be a good game but you are not interetsed because the team isn't the exact same roster as before. This kind of attitude, I will NEVER understand!
