Would anyone else like bioshock 3 to be a prequel? I would love to see rapture in all its former glory, that would be awesome. What about you lot, what do you want to see? do YOU want a prequel?

Well, I've read 'ideas' on it being a prequel on the internet, and absolutely.

Being someone in the civil war and at the time when Atlas led the revolution would be awesome.
Maybe even play as Atlas himself?

No. I really don't see where the gameplay would be. It would have to be entirely different from the first two games, what with the NPCs and everything you would(probably) have to interact with. There's no fun in doing quests for Atlas or somebody else when you already know what's going to happen overall.

What I would like to see is a farther future version of Rapture, where you start out in renovated areas or something, while it's gradually revealed that it's all a facade, and most of Rapture is gone. A little like Portal, actually...

Or maybe a direct sequel to Bioshock 2
If they made the ending canon the neutral ending where Delta dies, and let us play as Eleanor, the moral choice system and everything could remain intact. I mean, it's the only ending where she's not firmly set in one area of ideals. Yes, I know it's not gonna happen.

Hell no. In fact, I'd like to see no sequel, and I'd also like to see Bioshock 2 magically vanish overnight. The first game has a beautifully well-written and neatly wrapped-up story in its original incarnation, just the mere thought of a sequel almost destroys the entire point of the original. I'd prefer it if my favourite game stories weren't sequelised to death.

How about the developers instead use their time making a new original idea, with a completely different story, now there's something I'd really like to see. They did it once (System Shock), they can do it again...

How about what my British mate said?

"In Bioshock 3, I wanna play as a vending machine."

Hmm... in spite of the prequel idea I can only see it being more of the same. Do we really need to buy the same game a third time?

I'm pretty sure they won't do it during the civil war because that's what the bioshock 2 multiplayer is right?

Bingo.

I'm really anxious to explore Rapture in it's previous glory, but it'd be difficult to base an entire game around it. Especially with the civil war being plunged into BioShock 2's multiplayer.

A prequel would be nice, because when you look at it Rapture is pretty much done for after the second game... but I think some other genre would be more appropriate for that setting.

Id like it to be either right before the Civil War or as a continuance where you actually get to destroy Rapture.

Best. Idea. Ever.

The only problem with that is that it wont happen.

Well not while these people continue to give 2K money!

A Bioshock prequel would be a great idea...especially if they made it in the time period leading up to the civil war: you are one of Ryan's henchmen, skulking around the city, slowly watching everyone's sanity deteriorate, only to ultimately fail and go into hiding. I love the idea of watching Ryan desperately attempt to maintain order! You could then also interact with some of the most fun characters in the first one (eg, Sander Cohen, Dr. Steinman, Bill McDonagh, etc.). I think you could do it, and salvage the spirit of the first one by changing the gameplay mechanic to more stealth/RPG-based mechanics. Kind of like Bioshock meets meets Condemned meets Splinter Cell (and some RPG I can't think of at the moment).
