Okay so as the title clearly states imma gettin bioshock and oblivion for xbox, years after the came out. I've been looking forward to them for ages but i didn't have money lol.
But are there any things that people would recommend doing/not doing?
Cause I just wanna milk the best experience possible from these, seemingly, amazing games.

For oblivion, security (lockpicking) is completely worthless. The little mini game is really easy once you get used to it

Haven't played Oblivion, so I'm no use there.

For Bioshock, avoid spoilers. Pay attention to the environment. Explore. Use electric shotgun shells and armour-piercing bullets on Big Daddies. Use telekinesis to throw explosive objects.

For Bioshock: Play "System Shock 2" on the PC when you're done and bask in how much more awesome it was before they fucked it up.

Oblivion: Ignore security skill. Keep large quantities of lockpicks on you at all times. If you can't do one of the very hard locks, just use auto-pick a few times (save first though, that way if you run out of picks you can just reload)

Aye. Get the skeleton key once you can (God quest), makes any lock easy to pick, as you then have unlimited picks.
I've also heard some people say Stealth is useless and impossible, as everyone sees you straight away.
Those people are idiots.
Hit them.

I have 100 Stealth and some boosts for it, and now I can literally run into people without them knowing.

A cheaty way of doing it is getting 100% chameleon. Basically wins you the game (Was doable on P.C last time I checked, maybe they've changed it?)

Until you get the skeleton key anyway.

Oblivion; try and do the arena quickly, good money so you can get the cheap house on the water front and start storing stuff.

Well for Oblivion I'd suggest the PC version since it has the unofficial patch which fixes a shit-ton of mods. And if your PC is old get the Oldblivion mod.

As for what to do first, go to the arena and fight. You get lots of good gold and xp.

As for Bioshock, I'd say rent it. Its a good game, but there isn't much incentive to keep playing after you beat it once.

And as for what to do in it, you only really need 3 plasmids, shock, fire, and freeze. Also, don't bother with the whole kill/save child thing. Each one gives roughly the same amount of ADAM, so yeah.

In Bioshock, the chemical thrower has one use and one use only: The Electric Gel is great against Big Daddies, especially since it keeps then paralyzed more or less until you run out of ammo. Also, take the time in each level to explore the environment thoroughly, try not to miss anything.

In Oblivion.....Hmm.....Avoid the main quest. Have fun with it. Don't bother buying a horse.

Oblivion: Familiarize yourself with efficient leveling [http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Efficient_Leveling] before making your character. You are going to be stuck with them for a long time, so make sure you know what you are doing. Oblivion has a tendency to hand you options that are poor choices and not tell you.

Bioshock: Avoid buying plasmids if you can help it because a lot of them have a level 3 version that you will ultimately want over the level 1 and 2. Look up in a FAQ which ones have upgrades and only buy the upgrades. If not, just play however you feel, because the game is meant to be played as you see fit. The same could be said for Oblivion, but there are so many ways to maximize your character in that game that knowing ahead of time what you are doing is more important than in Bioshock.

PM me if you want any deeper details on Oblivion. There is a lot to cover if you want to max out your character.

Really? I could never get that damn minigame down. Fortunately I'd just get the skeleton key, making that skill useless anyway.

I got a link for you too

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Security#Lockpicking:_The_Mini-Game

I used to just do it by feel and I was pretty good at it, but then I read this and found it kinda hard to miss. I only broke picks when I preemptively clicked my mouse button instead of being patient. Ultimately, I got sick of the minigame and modded it out since I'm on the PC. My game now uses Morrowind style picking where you equip the pick like a weapon and "attack" the locked object. Success is randomly determined by your skill level. It certainly helps with those moments where a shop closed while you weren't looking and your character instantly whips out his lockpicks in front of all the guards...

Get the skeleton key on oblivion, and don't go straight through the main quest, explore and enjoy

With Oblivion do not choose your main skills as stuff that you will do all of the time. I can't remember what they are called. There is sneak which you can do, there is also one for running, and some other stuff. Get these if you want to level up fast but if you do your weapons may not keep up with your enemies.

With Bioshock there isn't much to say. Just play it and have fun. If you want to be quite scared though, playing it in the morning alone in a dim light can make you shit bricks at certain points.

Haven't played BioShock, but for Oblivion, I can only guide you to uesp.net - it has every walkthrough imaginable.
UESP is both a blessing and a curse. I think knowing too much about the game ruins the fun. Knowing where and how to get grand souls early on and give yourself max armor and high-powered kickass weapons removes all challenge. Avoiding any and all mistakes during quests is boring. Exploiting every little option the game has makes it uninteresting.

My advice: Only find out about stuff you absolutely want to avoid, like the aforementioned Skeleton Key for lockpicking. Or 1-second spells to buff certain skills (armorer, security, mercantile, sneak for pickpocketing) or for beguile. Or that 50-magicka chain-healing spell.

And something I'm finding out (again) on my current playthrough: Don't do Questline after Questline. Do whatever happens to be nearby, to mix it up. That was you can mix up endless dungeon crawling with some assassinations, thefts, arena-fights, random robberies and of course completely random crap you think of on the spot.

this can be done using the scroll duplication glitch and a sigil stone that grants chameleon, you can also use the super duplication glitch to permanently enchant your naked self with just about anything.
