Well, it's about time they released this into the wild. Thought I'd share it around.

(Be warned that the video has an irritating introduction and two unskippable ad breaks. But the goods are in there. Hopefully a less shitty
version will turn up on the tubes before long.)

EDIT: And, thanks to the endeavours of TheComposer, here's the superior Youtube version.

Personally, I'm looking forward to this. My only complaints are that some of the dialog is rather forced and I'm still not entirely sold on this 'tear' business. (That's "tear" as in the present tense of "torn", not tears as in the things that come out of your eyes when you cry.) Otherwise, lookin' good. The skylines in particular seem like good fun.

It looked somewhat sandbox-y which is always a positive for me. I really like Booker's voice acting, not so much for Elizabeth. Also not keen on the whole two-weapons limit. Oh, well. It looked very impressive nonetheless.

I'm pretty sure he's voiced by the same guy who did Garret from the Thief games.

I haven't double checked, but it certainly sounds just like him.

Just checked, that's definitely him. Awesome!

Speaking of which, I really have to finish Thief 3...

Looks incredible. I think the Tears thing looks excellent. Loved the Star Wars reference. And the knocking bad guys into the air then creating something that will bowl them all down through a tear. Wish the original Bioshocks had once-in-a-few-minutes powers like that.

The skyline battles, which sounded really naff and hard to work on paper to me, looked incredible. Especially the amount of distance Booker covered to take down that zeppelin

Looks really cool, and that "songbird" is even more intimidating than a big daddy was in Bioshock 1... I didn't even think that was possible...

Booker(man in a suit) seems to have the resilience of ten big daddies, can jump like a grasshopper with his left hand alone(can't imagine the training that went into that), fall any distance without damage, insta health regeneration, yet can only have two guns...

The tears are neat but presented extremely mechanically, the fights and travel also neat but the entire city seems to pile in at once so it's just a bullet cluster fuck.

It's a very mixed bag of stuff put together, obviously I'll play it for the story but I'm worried how it will turn out.

Heh. Usually people are complaining about rampant realism rather than the opposite.

Obviously I don't know any more about the game's mechanics than you do, so I can't really answer any of your concerns. However, in regard to his resliience, I did notice that his health bar was instantly refilling whenever he got low. So either he was playing with cheats on (not unlikely given that it's a demonstration) or the game has instant first-aid kits like the other two Bioshock games.

Realism is not my concern at all, he can be a super mutant space donkey crossbred with an octopus if they present it right (well with 2 weapon limit the octopus might not fit).
I'm just concerned with the feel of it, if you can just stand out in the open during a hailstorm of bullets like that it means the enemies aren't a danger but rather an annoyance to clean up, the barrier between tedium and fun.

Ofcourse we have yet to see the end product, they just got me a little worried.

I actually didn't need to see this, I was sold the moment I heard it was coming out. However this has just made me even more hyped for the game. It looks amazing, the atmosphere is fantastic, I really love the feeling of oppression for the residents and how you feel like an outcast that nobody likes. Definitely a lot of character in this one, so it's something to look forward to.

I loved it. Last year when the first trailer came out, I was impressed, but it was obviously scripted. Now I'm sold. This looked like a real game that I could be playing a year from now, and if the final product plays like that video, than this will easily be the best game I will have played in years.

Also, for those worried about the player taking a lot of damage and not dying, it's because it was a demo and they had god mode on. The final game will be harder.

I haven't watched the video yet, no sound on until I find my speakers, but really, a two weapon limit? That's... very disappointing. The thing I really like about Bioshock was being able to use what was fun at the time. One moment you could be feeling like running around like a madman with a machine gun and then being tactical and strategic with Crossbow Traps and picking off splicers.

EDIT: Well after watching the video the two weapon limit didn't seem so bad as I had thought, when I watched Duke Nukem footage the player was constantly changing weapons every minute or so in order to stay alive while this pickups are very scarce so you have to make do. So it looks pretty good.

I've watched it through twice already and I reckon it looks awesome!

I've been excited for this game ever since the first teaser and since then it's just looked better and better. From the look of things both skylines and Elizabeth seem to have been implemented well.

On the note of the two-weapon limit, who knows? Maybe it was due to some kind of nostrum (like gene-tonics from the first game I think) or maybe it's just like that for the demo due to them not wanting to show off too much. Then again maybe they felt that it fit the character and that having all weapons at once would've made Booker over-powered (let's face it, Bioshock 1 was all about surviving and scrounging, this game's set in a populated city so why would he carry all his iron on him at all times?). At the end of the day I'm sure Irrational know what they're doing, and if there's this much negative reception from the weapon limit then who knows, maybe they'll change things up before it ships.
