I don't think this is really a spoiler since the game hasn't come out yet but I'm pretty sure it's gonna end up being a computer simulation, which is kinda lame.

check out 1:43 and you'll see what I mean.

Edit: also at 5:56 look at the painting on the wall.

I don't actually see it at all... Sorry.

But wow, I haven't seen any gameplay videos of this yet, and wow... That looks awesome!

hes trying to point out the subtle nuances in the video. At 1:43 the banner, from beginning to end, as well as part of the bell, shimmers and seems to change much like the cat in the final 2 scenes of Matrix Revolution. And at 5:56 the painting on the wall changes completely.

Not only that, but the Protester, at about 3:40~, changes significantly, as well as the badge on the left side of his overcoat. It changes from the old American Propaganda badge to that of one of the Communist Party Propaganda badges.

There's a shimmer? Can't you see it? I think it's probably best to remain open minded so you can be pleasantly surprise if you're right :)

Uh... that's a pretty long logical jump you're performing there.

"Oh hey, wierd stuff happening. Oh my God! We're in the Matrix!"

i can see it, and to be honest, i think they would have not released this gameplay video if it gave away so much of the story like that.

I mean, the game looks freaking incredible, and I seriously home there are some awesome twists...

I just think it's stupid if they show you early so you can guess right off the bat. Like who honestly knew the whole, "Would you kindly?" thing before it happened? But when Assassin's Creed came out, the trailer gave away the only big twist in the plot to the point where the fact that it was a simulation wasn't even a spoiler.

But I WILL keep an open mind, for Irrational's sake.

I mean, it is entirely possible that those specific objects are virtual or something.

(BTW if you have a 360, I'd suggest downloading the trailer there... looks SOOO much better.)

Or it could be, you know, just a bug?

The game still has 2 years to go, which means this is basically pre-alpha, which means bugs can and will strike anytime, anywhere.

EDIT: Kinda saw what he meant. Still though, doesn't exactly make me cheerful. If it ends up as another "it was all a dream" type things I will be really pissed off. Hate that twist almost as much as amnesia.

Plus that looked heavily scripted. More like a tech demo then actual gameplay.

This game looks decent. Hopefully it won't be like the first, where the climax happened in the middle of the game and the last half had you do incredibly stupid things and basically turned itself into just another damn FPS. Just with plasmids.

It's pretty obvious it isn't a bug. Especially the later things with the changing pictures and people (like Valthonis666 pointed out.)

I do see it in the video but it may be that they just have not finished the game yet. Have they? I do not know. Although there were sound effects for the banner at 1:43 but again it may just be bugs.

Very interesting.

Spoilers? maybe, maybe not.
Are you still going to buy it? I think that's a yes.

Did anyone else look closely at the thumbnail and think "Falcon PUNCH!"?

Are you guys watching it in hi-def?... on a big monitor?

I dunno, it doesn't look like a graphical glitch as much as it looks like a intentional spot texture visibility change (btw I just made that term up, but it sounds nice, and I do 3d art so I kinda know some of what I'm talking about). I feel like if you look closely you can see some of the mesh itself.

Ah I see what you mean.
If this ends up being one of those "it was all a dream" twists I will seriously be pissed off.

Has anyone considered that it could be that they are living in a technologically advanced city and it is something like a digital photo frame that can change its image. The banner in the street is marketing, like a billboard and the picture in the pub is rotating through images to change things up.

It would also provide a way for other characters to give you directions or hints without using a radio. I think there is a movie like that where one of the characters hacks into a screen and sends a warning to the protagonist before wiping it so the bad guys don't see. Just my thoughts. I am more hoping that they will fix some of the issues that the first bioshock had so the game isn't so bland.

I'm starting to think you're right more and more now that I mull it over.

I can't see how you can say the first one was bland though. Sure it had its continuity problems, and it was pretty slow at times, but I ran the gamut of shitting myself to borderline crying.

At 1:43 only thing happening is probably someone using some ability similar to Houdini cause the banner doesn't change just gets hazy and couple with the gust of wind makes it look like someone is passing by. Also at 3:40 the badge doesn't change at all just starts shining with the glowing from the guys powers and at 5:56 is probably showing that someone is keeping their eye on you and their powers are using the painting as a camera. All in all this game probably going to have a lot of mind fuckery.

It wasn't so much that the setting was bland. I think it had a lot of potential. More that I found the game play to be bland. I don't know exactly what caused it but about half way through I lost all interest and I ended up running through most areas. I think it was partly the revive chambers that did it because there was no concern about dying. The other thing I also felt was bland were the abilities you got. Really they weren't all that different from guns. Aside from the fact that you had an animation of it shooting from your hand, they all could have been replaced with a gun and nothing would of changed. Lighting -> lightning gun, telekinesis -> gravity gun, etc.

I understand that lots of people loved Bioshock, it just wasn't my cup of tea. I am not trying to start an argument, rather saying that the new one looks like it has potential and I am hoping it can grab my interest if I end up playing it.

I really hope it's not a simulation. Bioshock 1-2 were really underwater so why not keep this game based in a real setting and not a computer.
