My only wish for this game is for windows to be breakable. Imagine luring someone towards a window and then using an explosive to blast them through the window into the sky beyond *evil laugh*

Holy delicious balls... that looks awesome.

Maybe playing up the steampunk style (which I found to be a bit more subtle in the first 2) a bit much; but I love steampunk and I loved the bioshocks so *nerdgasm*.

Sweet.... Will definitely be checking THAT out... I had to pass on Bioshock 2, but this captures my interest.

It's a sad thing when I can have watched the trailer on youtube before the one on the official site has even finished loading for me - and I was refreshing the site to see the trailer asap.

Well that looks fucking awesome. To say the least.
My one problem, if any, is that video took SOOO long to load. Loving the concept though, and i imagine they'll explain the "it's floating yet no-one can see it" malarky.

But that would retcon bioshock 2...hmm, maybe they SHOULD sweep that bastard under the rug...
No it doesn't.

Bioshock 2 never said anything about when they built it.
I mean, in the museum, they talked about Big Daddys going outside and building stuff, but maybe Ryan just wanted to cover up that he just repaired Columbia.
In the museum they talk about how rapture started as a "foundation" platform, sunk to the bottom of the ocean to bridge over a chasm (the one with all the mysterious light coming from it) and be the base for rapture.

Firstly, everyone, if you look at Bioshock 2, Irrational had nothing to do with it. Irrational became 2K Boston and Oz. So leave the Bioshock 2 hate out.

Secondly Bioshock 2 fucking rocks. Okay, maybe the concept isn't as mind blowing, but eh...nothing is the second time round.

Thirdly, this looks awesome, and is exactly the right move for the franchise, Rapture is cool. But three games with the same decor and ambiance (as they have to be because nothing new is built) would have pushed the game into mediocrity for the fans regardless of how good it was.

But I'm gonna wait for some gameplay footage to be anything but psyched!

I don't think this is really Bioshock... they should have made a different _____shock. How about System Shock 3, for crying out loud!

I do find the new location promising, but how about call it "Physicshock" for a more realistic title?

There was nothing wrong with Bioshock 2; I actually thought it was a lot more fun than the original.

OT: Yeah it looks pretty cool. I know it's a prequel, and that it will obviously tie in somehow, but placing a Bioshock game in the sky, where it's all bright and stuff, seems to defeat the point somewhat. Regardless, I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

It's a common refrain in stealth and puzzle games that "Nobody will ever look up".

This looks....tolerable.

I really see the city being in the sky a problem, the exploration and things like that will have to be resolved...

...and I won't be able to handle all those American flags.

It looks like there's quite the tone shift here as well. From Andrew Ryan's hypercapitalism to American hyperpatriotism? You couldn't be thrown out of a window in that city without seeing American flags and propaganda everywhere.

Rapture required a fairly hefty suspension of disbelief (SO many reasons it couldn't have actually been built, let alone lasted as long as it did, especially with mid-20th-century technology and engineering) so I suppose a city in the air probably won't be an even greater burden on my sense of reality.

Not sure if I agree with Comlumbia falling into the ocean to make Rapture. The story goes that Ryan made Rapture to escape what he saw as an increasingly oppressive America. Ryan would still be a child in this game, not to mention the city is clearly over land (not that that really matters I guess...)

My only hope is that they decide to take the narrative in an interesting direction.

It's got a damn-sight more scope for exploration than a city underwater. What's wrong with linearity anyway?

Looks interesting, even if a floating city is a little far-fetched. Still haven't played Bioshock yet (I know, I'm a failure as a gamer...) but I can probably pick it up used for cheap.
Ooh, some kind of plasmid type ability in the 'rose bridge' thing!

And the crappy flash player means I have to wait insane times for me to watch the clip at normal speed...
