Uh... regenerating health? Once again, it uses a Halo-style system with one regenerating bar and one that needs to be replenished with supplies. Once again, I liked it, but I know others may not.
I don't remember regenerating health at all in the game.

Damn you all.

I now leaving my house to buy this game...

How long is it?
According to my Steam stats (which aren't always reliable) it took me about 16 and a half hours to complete on the hard difficulty.

However, I'm a stop-to-smell-the-roses kind of guy. I've seen people claim to have beaten it within ten hours.
Great thanks for the heads up I'm just after reaching Monument Island now. It's pretty awesome so far I'm just loving the murder of crows.

Even better than the plague of rats in Dishonored.

The question is now will I actually sleep tonight or will I play Bioshock instead?

I could mention how awesome the story is, but seeing as how that's already been mentioned, let me leave another piece of information that may very well be one of the most insanely awesome things I've ever witnessed in a game:
I instigated a duel between minigun weilding steampunk robot Abraham Lincoln and extradimensional minigun weilding steampunk robot George Washington.
No, really, this is a thing you can do in the game.

Also, just a side note, I had been wondering for the whole game when the Boys of Silence were to come in.
And then there was... that one scene... towards the end.
I actually screamed. I really did.
The one where
You open the door leading to old elizabeth and when you turn around theres just one standing there? And then it screams?
If so I'm right there with you. I jumped 3 feet in the air using only the terrified muscles of my butt.

Huh?

You know, the shield thing? The yellow health bar above the red one?

It's kind of hard to miss.

Gameplay wise, I like Infinite the best of the three games.
Story-wise, I liked Bioshock 1 better.

My main complaints are:

2 Weapon Limit: Honestly, I wish games would pump this up to 3 or 4. I like to be prepared for anything. Not have one weapon for everything (In this it was the Carbine or Machine Gun/Repeater) and a "special weapon" (RPG/Sniper/Crank Gun). However, having the Vigors made this a lot more bearable than in games like Halo and such.

The Skyline: As much as I loved jumping onto it, and diving on enemies like a bloodthirsty Batman after the combat died and I had to figure out where to go (and 90% of the time I wasn't anywhere close), I would get confused as to where I needed to go, and it usually ended up with me riding the Skyline jumping back and forth from rails/ground randomly until I found where I needed to go. It could be remedied if the objective arrow... thing would adjust itself to your speed (showing up for a longer distance if you're on the Skyline at full speed)

Overall, I did like it, better than the original Bioshock even. I'm playing through again on 1999 mode, and I don't feel like I have to force myself like I felt I was doing in the original.

Yeah... I didnt bother to read any of your post after you said this, as I have just beaten it and is in full agreement with you.

*Edit*

Having actually taken the time to read your post, I would like to say I am one of those people that hates the two weapon limit, and felt the Vox versions of weapons should have been cut and replaced with big fucking pockets to carry all those guns with.

I really love this game, it's just... aghh... it's so good! I just want to shout it from the rooftops, you know that feeling?

Some people have been complaining about the story, I can see why it's not for everyone, but I really love a story that makes you think and replay to catch all the things you didn't understand the first time around.

Just fantastic! I'm about to replay the original Bioshock, but as of right now I prefer Bioshock Infinite, it just hit some sweet spots story-wise that the original did not.

Oh and how about the music? I can't be the only one who listened to the whole barbershop quartet song at the beginning of the game with a massive grin on my face.

You won't be impressed with the ending.

It's certainly interesting in a roundabout way.. but... well eh. Maybe some people will like it, I don't know.

Overall I think the game is really solid. Will definitely be one of the best games throughout the year, but I don't consider it GOTY yet, not at all... nor a perfect 10; as a lot of critics are hailing it as a perfect game.
I think the most honest thing I can say about the ending is, it's in many ways similar to Mass Effect 3 (not in content, but in it being a huge tonal shift with a huge scale implications and big ideas) but where Mass Effect failed, Bioshock seceded. It's not perfect, I thought it lacked a certain amount of emotional pathos. But it's so ambitious I can't help but admire it anyways.

STOP GIVING ME REASONS TO BUY THIS GAME.

I keep feeling like I need to (re)play Bioshock and Bioshock 2 before moving on to Infinite, but I don't own them anymore.

HNNNNGH.

[small]I suppose at least this way, it should have gone down in price by the time I go to buy it.[/small]
Playstation version of Bioshock Infinite comes with the first Bioshock on the disk. Hows that for a reason to buy it?

I didn't play either of the previous ones, other then a bit if a shoot out at the end (Which I knew enough about the previous Bioshock games to catch, and its nothing game shattering if you dont.) there's nothing you really need from the first games.

The Playstation version actually comes with the first Bioshock loaded on the disk, but I am finding it almost unplayable. That may just be because its not very console friendly (Infinte is very console friendly)

This is not the game gaming's Citizen Kane. Please stop acting like it is and that it's flawless
Don't get your panties in a bunch. It's a good game and we're giving it well deserved credit.

Though out of curiosity? Have you aver actually seen Citizen Kane? I feel like most people who use this analogy haven't. Because Citizen Kane, while great, isn't flawless either.

Actually, I think you unintentionally nailed it by calling this the Neon Genesis Evangelin of Games. Right down to the abstract wierd ending that doesn't make a lot of sense unless you pay a lot of attention.

Finished it twice now. Absolutely addicted. I am absolutely in love. In love with everything about the game. Irrational, you just blew my mind to a billion pieces. God bless you people. Ohhhh what an experience this game is.. Everyone needs to play it..

Oh and, a tip. Chances are, during your first playthrough, you're going to end up having questions about the plot. Do a 2nd playthrough, it clears up a lot of the questions you might have. Another thing, listen to the voxaphones. It also doesn't hurt to watch the little scenes spread throughout the city. It clears up a lot of small details.

What a masterpiece this game is. 10/10 and GOTY for me.

That was a very odd moment for me because,
for whatever reason, even though the game had held off on jump-scares (and any outright terror moments overall), I saw that one coming as soon as the little vignette had finished.

The TV turned off, and my brain instantly made the connection, "Okay, I've just been paying attention to an interesting plot point, so there's going to be something behind me now since there's been a bit of a lull. I don't want to turn around because there's something behind me but I guess I'd better so here goeOH GOD I WAS RIGHT THERE'S SOMETHING THERE" and suddenly my chair needed cleaning. Was expecting an angry Elizabeth or something, honestly.

Anyway, just found it odd that I expected that one out of all the times the POV finished focusing on something and there wasn't anything behind me.

It's been since the first Bioshock that a game made me think as much. You know how you feel after you finish a good book? That combination of happy, sad, and, especially if the story was a bit twisty, constantly mulling it over? That's how I feel right now.

I'll give Irrational and Ken Levine one thing, they LOVE using book ends and foreshadowing. A second playthrough of this game is pretty much a necessity, if only to try out the other abilities.

I wish I felt as enthusiastic about it as you, but something about Infinite just never quite clicked with me. I liked the story and the setting and the characters all well enough, hell, even the gameplay was pretty fun and the music was nice. And yet with all that said it never quite got my attention the way I had expected it to.

Honestly everyone seems to be talking about the ending constantly but it was met with a shrug on my part. I'm not going to pretend I saw it coming, though looking back in retrospect I'm disappointed I hadn't at least begun to puzzle it out on my own, but all the same it didn't get that much of a reaction from me. Honestly I found the part towards the end of the game... hmm, how to put it without spoilers? The 'what if' scenario, that I found pretty damned compelling and I was genuinely curious where they were going with it.

But then it was over. A boss fight, a bit of talky, another final twist, and then The End!

Ending itself after I thought it over for a bit also left me wanting. I mean it was neat and all, but even if you interpret everything in the best way possible it's still a pretty melancholy ending and at worst it's downright depressing. Not saying I was expecting puppies and butterflies, although I'll freely admit I'm a sucker for a happy ending, but it just never felt all that satisfying to me.

Ah Well, c'est la vie. Even if it never quite clicked with me I'm still glad that games like Infinite are being made. The industry could use more like it! And for what it's worth I definitely enjoyed the game, just not to the same level as many others in this topic.

Please tell me what your 10/10 is.

I'm dying to hear what you have to say about a game that deserves a 10/10.

Scientifically speaking, spoilers actually ENHANCE people's enjoyment of a piece of entertainment. [http://www.psychologicalscience.org/index.php/news/releases/spoiler-alert-stories-are-not-spoiled-byspoilers.html]

unless it works different for videogames.

But since both games and films share a LOT of the same narrative and visual techniques I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't that different.

How is the ending? No spoilers, but is it the same crapshoot tacked on like the first game? While Bioshock 2 is in many ways inferior to the first, I thought that the ending to Bioshock 2 was far better, because it continued on with the main thrust of the story: Delta and Eleanor's relationship. It wasn't a 30 second clip telling you "and then this happened."

How does Infinite stack up>?
It's a love it or hate it type of thing. I wouldn't say it's tacked on, as the story is constantly giving you subtle hints throughout the entirety of the game, but I think there's a few problems with how it was done.

First off, until you've actually beaten the game, you have no idea what anyone is really talking about throughout most of the game, because it's all suppose to come together at the end. Likewise, the ending kinda sorta comes out of left field. They should have slowly paced out what you learn at the end, but instead try to do it all at once, and it's sort of a bit much.

But regardless, I still liked the ending.

Edit: I think it was a really good game, though it wasn't perfect. It felt a little short compared to the last two Bioshock games (though I think that's more to do with not being able to really put it down without playing a couple of hours)

I don't like how there wasn't much choice in the ending, although...
( many would probably say that was the point)
.

There was absolutely no reason they couldn't have put a mini map in the game. Columbia isn't really hard to navigate, but I missed out on a few optional side quests my first playthough because I literally had no idea where to look.

Also, the difficulty was really bipolar on a few parts. Some of those "boss" sections were just insane.

Oh, and
Kinda bummed you didn't get to fight the Songbird.

That's exactly what I've been thinking. You end up not really being adventurous with the weapons because there's always a certain combo that's going to be better than anything else. I never picked up any of the "power weapons", because I didn't want to get rid of weapons that were decent all around.

It didn't really bother me too much, but I think it could have been a bit better of a game if they'd made that small change.

The game is very much a predecessor of Bioshock 1. You can feel it in the story and the way the world is built. It bothered me a little. Don't fix what ain't broke.
